I know this is a baby shower board, but I thought you ladies might get a kick out of this. And, I'd like your opinions on the matter as well. So...
First a little back story; My cousin is getting marred in October and her shower is coming up in August. She is incredibly spoiled (i.e. is almost 30 and has never needed to have a full time job because mommy and daddy pay for everything), insecure/fishes for compliments, and always needs to be the center of attention. Despite always wanting to be in the spot light, she apparently isn't a fan of bridal showers because she doesn't like unwrapping gifts in front of people (neither do I, but if you have a shower you generally have to just suck it up and do it). A month or so ago she even told my aunt "don't even bother wrapping my present. I hate unwrapping them".
Fast forward to today when the invite came in the mail. The invite itself was very nice. The problem I have is with a insert that was included. It had two separate "cutesy" poems on it. The first read something like "As for the wishing well, gadgets and gifts are fine. But do remember the bride's love of wine!" So now I'm supposed to stock her wine fridge, too?! The second said "Now the bride would like the theme of the shower to be "Go Green". So please wrap in clear plastic, or better yet none at all. But do remember to attach a bow or ribbon. The bride still needs her rehearsal bouquet after all." Keep in mind that there is nothing "green" about this bride- no hybrid car, vegetable garden, non-toxic clean products, she doesn't eat organic, etc... It is obvious that she just doesn't want to open the presents and has used this excuse to justify it to her guests. Also, how is using clear plastic to wrap them being green?
I find this SO tacky! Is it wrong that I now have an intense urge to not only wrap her present but also use duct tape to seal it?! Do you find it tacky, too, or am I being crazy?
Re: NBSR- Bridal shower; holy tackiness!
This! I'd use newspaper or deconstructed paper bags to wrap so you are actually being green and seal them up with duct tape and crazy glue.
The kitschy sign is a must!

make sure it's all recycled products, wrapped in many layers of recycled paper!
HAHA love that idea! green for the not so green? I had a friend that decided to put that on a bridal invite and everything thing came wrapped anyway. plastic wrap is not going green.
