I offer him some before we go upstairs to get ready for bed. That saves me from having to carry the sippy cup upstairs and back down but gives him a chance to drink before bed. He typically only has a sip or two but then I don't feel like I am putting him to bed thirsty.
I only give milk,in the morning and before he goes to bed.i don't remember where I read, that for toddlers to have the correct amount of vitamin d,they don't need to drink to much milk during the day.they said if a toddler drinks more than two cup of milk, they won't absorb all the VD that they need.
We give DS milk (4-5 oz) when we are still downstairs playing after dinner. We bring him up to his bath/bed shortly after he is finished with his milk.
DD's last milk is at dinner. We only do milk at meals. Since we eat dinner at 6 and she goes to bed at 7:30, we don't really do anything after dinner except water.

this exactly. i let him have the milk cup for about an hour after dinner and then we brush teeth. he gets water in a sippy cup every night in his crib in case he gets thirsty throughout the night/early morning. and most mornings... the water cup is close to empty!!

DD gets 8oz in the morning, and 8 oz with dinner. Whatever she doesn't finish at dinner, I try to get her to finish before bed. I would say she gets 14 to 16 oz a day. She gets water the rest of the day.
Thanks for the responses! We've been doing it right at bedtime, but I'm thinking it's time to move it either to dinner or somewhere between dinner and bedtime. I hate to rock that boat because he goes to bed so easily, but at some point, I want him to get used to going to bed without it.
