Anyone who knows Hawaiian culture, they do it big first birthdays. So I was plagued from the start when I married DH. I'm trying to embrace it but I just keep thinking of the headache of it all.... Please Help me get on board with it. Tell me cute exciting details of your party plans??
Re: Tell me your LOs birthday bash details
We aren't doing anything major, but after all the normal cake and presents stuff, we are going outside and playing in some water!! Since we don't have a pool, we'll set up a couple of sprinklers and slip-n-slides, have wagons full of water balloons, and have a bunch of squirt guns!! (DS LOVES the water so he'll get to enjoy a lot of this stuff too!)
Now that I think about it, I don't think that's the kind of details you were asking for....oops!
Anyway, my dad will do the food. I like doing small details for parties and our theme is owls. I am doing favors for everyone, a magnet and a small jar of candy.
To display pictures my 5yo is going to paint a picture of a tree.
I'll have guests sign the Happy Birthday Dr Seuss book. We did this for DD1.
We might do a few more things but that's what I've got so far.
The fortune telling game sounds neat, kind of like Tinker Bell.
wow sounds amaze balls! Love the cool fortune telling game. I've never been to a Korean traditional event except a friend got married and wore the traditional wedding garb. It was neat! I hope you take lots of pics and share!
My DH is Hawaiian and we have a home in Hawaii. Were renting it out to family so I guess it's nice to be able to go back and still be able to stay there. As for the party it's of course called a luau (duh). But apparently way back when a child's life wasn't celebrated until the first year. Since apparently so many died before a year. There's nothing extra special about the luau except it seems everyone who's everyone seems to be invited! I went to DH nephews 1st luau when we were there in Feb and there was 250 ppl!!! That is NOT an exaggeration either. We already have family flying in from of town and from Hawaii for Koa's luau. Eek!
Your Koa's birthday bash sounds like my kind of party!!
The kids will have so much fun. How many ppl are you inviting?
i might have to steal that "guest signing" idea.
. I didn't even think about that. Plus on a book that can be read later. Genius! I love owls... It's going to be so adorbs!
You should totally do the book signing thing. It will be really cool since you have so many guests.
This sounds awesome. I like things that are rooted in tradition.
We are doing a joint b-day party for Finn. My best friend's son is 5 days older than Finn, so we are doing them together in her back yard. We will have a baby pool, sprinklers, cupcakes, etc.
Now, I just need to figure out how to make a dairy free smash cake for Finnegan.
