Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Need nap advice!

So at 9 months old, I finally got my LO to nap with out me. She was taking an hour nap at 9:30 and 2 hour nap at 2:00 in her crib everyday with no objections. Before that, I have had to hold her for every nap. However it has all changed in 3 days. I only work weekends so she has not been at daycare or with a babysitter until this week. I had to do 3 days of training this week, so she had to go to a sitter. She loved it and did very well...even though every hour killed me. Now today I cannot get her to nap in her crib...she is crying so hard. I cannot leave her there to cry. What should I do? Or will this hopefully pass in a few days?

Re: Need nap advice!

  • If it were me, I would go to her when she cries and probably even nap with her for a few days. It siunds like she needs to "reconnect" after being away from you while you were doing your training. Just my opinion, but I don't think napping with her for a few days will necessarily revert her back to that long-term.

  • My DD went through some separation anxiety at 9 months. At least that's what we think it was. She would cry in the middle of the night and stop the second we picked her up. Put her down and she'd start crying again. We'd end up holding her for 1.5 to 2 hours before we could put her down without her crying. It passed after 4 days. So I think you should pick LO up.

  • Thanks everyone. I have been letting her nap with me. I figure I will see how she feels after the weekend.
