My LO turned 2 in May. The last week or two, she has been refusing to nap. She'll just talk and sing to herself for however long we leave her in the crib, but she won't fall asleep. I thought that toddles didn't start dropping the nap until 3 or 4. Could it just be a phase? Did anyone else's LOs go through this?

Re: Dropping the nap?
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it's temporary. Thanks for giving me some hope!

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how much you must spend on gas! At least you've found a way to get him to nap, but I'm sure it's no fun for you.

My kid took this up about a week and a half ago. She also pushes back at bedtime lately and can't figure out what time she wants up in the morning either. I let her work that out on her own and it got much better fast.
Today, she's on hour 3.5 of her nap She's catching up from lack of sleep I think.
I just kept consistent with the nap routine. She could play, read, cry whatever in her crib but she had to stay there for an hour minimum. 5 days she did really good just playing/talking to herself and then she'd fall asleep for about a 1/2 hour.
The other one she pretty much whined that whole hour, but I'm glad she stuck with it. The 7th day she actually napped for that hour.
My pedi did say some kids do give up nap early, and I'd know if she was ready or it's just a phase. She's not ready. She's a mess by 4pm without a nap so that's why I stuck with it. If nothing else, downtime is good for everyone.
Well, that makes more sense. I guess that I just assumed that you had to drive around the whole time because my DD will not transfer from car to crib. I'm jealous!
