Success after IF

IVF ladies! How many embryos did you put in?

Hello ladies! I'm lurking from the Infertility and TTC after 35 boards. Just wondering, of you that did IVF and are pregnant now, how many embryos were transferred? For my first fresh cycle we choose one 5AB blast, a BFN. For our upcoming FET we're going to transfer two.

How many did you transfer, what were the grades and are you pregnant with a singleton or twins? Thanks ladies!

Three ectopic preganacies in left tube in 1999, 2003 and 2004. HSG in 2010 concluded left tube blockage. IUI with femara in 2012 BFN. IVF #1 June 2013, 20 retreived, 14 mature, 12 fertilized via ICSI, one transferred, four frozen, BFN.  FET in September 2013 - BFN:( FET #2 April 2014 - BFP!!!!

Re: IVF ladies! How many embryos did you put in?

  • We did 2 on our fresh cycle (due to my young age and the other embryos were all pretty bad)  I do not remember the "exact" grades, but by the time we got to day 3- we had one low A range, a B and 2 low Cs.

We lost baby 2 at 6 weeks, now we have a gorgeous little 14 month old. :)  If it helps, most people on this board have already had their kiddos- pregnant after IF would be where women who are still pregnant usually hang out.

    Hope that helps!  Big Smile

I posted over there too! Thank you and congrats. I am happy to see someone overcome blocked tubes. Mine are too.

  • We put back 1 Blast. My clinic does not grade them once they make blast....

I was a little apprehensive about this decision at the time, but looking back I am thrilled with it. Everything worked out perfectly and we have a beautiful 3.5 month baby girl. And I am happy I did not have to deal with the stress on my body from a multiple pregnancy.

For what it's worth - my clinic reccomends putting back two if you are 35 or older. And personally if I had had a BFN I would probably put back two myself... That's just me though.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide. Sending you vibes for a BFP.

Good luck!

We had decided that for our first IVF cycle, if we made it to day 5, we would only put back one.  We did and now have an 11 month old little boy.  If that cycle was a BFN, we might have considered putting back 2.

My Dr pretty much explained that at our age (31 at the time) and diagnosis, transfering more embryos would not continue to increase the chance of pregnancy instead it would increase our chance of multiples.

  • When I was 37, I did a fresh IVF and put in 1 embryo (that is now DS). I had 3 left over make it to blast and freeze (I was never told the grade). I started with 6 embryos. I did not want twins and there is a high chance that if one takes, 2 will, even over 35. But I can totally understand going for 2 after a BFN. I know a couple of people IRL that ended up with twins after a 2 embryo FET after 1+ prior BFN. So, you just never know.

In our second cycle, we transferred two fair quality blasts due to a history of a failed cycle and lesser quality embryos. Those two fighters became my two perfect nine month olds. We didn't get grades on ours either but we put two back. One was really good looking and the other slightly behind. We now have our almost 5 month old son. We've been discussing what we would do for our next round and we think we will put two back again.

Our clinic also recommends putting two back if you're over 35. Good luck! I hope it works out for you!

For our IVF, we transferred 2 grade A or B (don't totally remember) 5-day blasts and had a baby girl.  (I actually had a vanishing twin, as they both implanted, but in one of the gestational sacs, no baby every grew).

We've had 2 failed FETs this year, and each time we only put 1 back in.  The 5-day blasts were B (I think).
