Jake & Jacob

We're considering the name Jake for our baby boy, but not Jacob (mostly because Jacob is so popular right now). But are many of those Jacobs going to be nicknamed Jake? Any moms of little Jacobs out there? Do you use (or plan to use) Jake as a nickname?

I know a few Jake's, ranging in age from a baby to adults. All go by Jake and all but one has Jacob as the given name. I don't know any who regularly go by Jacob.

That said, I love the name Jacob and the nn Jake.

That's what I figured and why I'm likely to take it off the list because we don't want to the little guy to have 5 other Jakes in his kindergarten class. I was just curious to see what others thought, since I don't know anyone named either Jacob or Jake. I appreciate the responses!

I know lots of Jacobs who go by Jacob not jake, my husband being one of them. Even as a little boy, he went by Jacob rather than Jake.

I guess I'm in the minority, but most Jacobs I know go by Jacob and the Jakes go by Jakes.

DS is Jacob. We have never ever shortened it. People who do get corrected by us (oh, he goes by Jacob) or corrected with an evil look (family members who still shorten it).
