Baby Food Recipies/Books

We are starting to think about starting our little one on some purees and was hoping for some recommendations on websites/books that you loved for recipes. Also any tips on storage would be appreciated for this first time mama! Thank you!! J

Re: Baby Food Recipies/Books

  • We bought "The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet"

  • I've just been looking stuff up on the internet.  It's so easy.  I've made carrots & peas so far & he likes them both!  I cook or steam, blend, & put in ice cube trays. Pop out the "food cubes" and put in a freezer bag.  I put what he'll eat for the day in a bowl each morning in the fridge & it will defrost.  Microwave about 15 seconds & voila!  You have homemade baby food!  I'm not opposed to using the store bought baby food...just wanted to try this & know it's cheaper.  I also know what the food is made of!

  • Lo isn't on food yet but a friend bought me a book called "baby's table" apparent it's great .
  • Did you all who are feeding your babies food already start with rice cereal? My baby hates it! The doctor said start with rice cereal and fruits. So I didn't know when I could try a fruit. One doctor in the group said nothing until 6 months and the other one asked why we haven't started food.....
  • I used kellymom for DS1. It gave lots of information. I used the 9 chopper from Walmart because the blender was too big. Bananas and avocado can be mushed and fed. Everything else I boiled or baked and pureed.
I froze them in ice cube trays. Each cube is about one ounce. After they were frozen I stored them in freezer bags. DS1 ate one cube at each meal. When he started eating more we just through a few cubes together. The night before I would take out a few cubes in mini containers for daycare.
