Baby Showers

Sat. vs. Sun

Does anyone have a strong day preference between Sat & Sun?  The majority of showers I've attended have been Sunday brunch/lunch, but is a Saturday brunch considered a faux pas?

Re: Sat. vs. Sun

  • I don't care too much, but with a Saturday - I prefer earlier in the day so that I have my afternoon/ evening free.

I prefer Sunday just because I feel like Saturday is MY day to go out and do something fun.

  • I prefer Sunday showers as well so I can get things done on Saturdays. I also feel they should start too early for people having to travel. I live 2 hours from all of my gf's and hate when something starts at 1112pm!

This. I prefer Saturday over Sunday I think.

  • I have never been to a Sunday shower. With Sundays you are competing with church times possibly if the shower is in the AM.

I prefer Saturdays. If the MTB is still working, it gives her a day to relax and put stuff away (if she works M-F). As a guest, I like to know that I still have Sunday to do whatever I want. If the shower is on a Sunday, then I wake up on Sunday feeling like my weekend is already over.

I don't consider Sundays a problem because I don't do church, and neither do most of my friends, but that would def. be something to consider if your circle does. If you do it after church time, you're getting into taking up a lot of the day of your guests.

Yes - if your circle has a lot of church-goers, I think Saturday is better.  I do go to church, and really don't like it when I have church, then have to find my own lunch, then go to a shower (done this many times).  I need some of my "at home" time on Sunday.

  • I planned for Saturday because some of my family members do church, and at different times. So to not interfere with that, I chose Saturday. Plus Sunday is my day to relax and organize the gifts I get.

  • I'm from the South and generally Sundays are church/family/last day before workweek begins kind of day.  Most people schedule events on Saturdays.  It's interesting to read other people's responses.

I've been to both, but if you have anyone traveling, I think Saturdays are better.  Regardless of what you pick, earlier in the day is better.

  • I MUCH prefer Saturdays.  Might sound terrible, but Saturday morning/afternoon is my allotted time to get all of the crap out of the way.  I do the Target run, gas up for the week, etc.  Sitting through a baby shower falls on the list of "crap."  I enjoy them sometimes, but honestly, showers have become so ridiculous that I dread them now.  Sunday is my day to stay at home, do laundry, and chill before heading back to work on Monday.  I'm very protective of my Sundays.

I agree. Sunday mornings mean church for our family. Also, if there is any travel involved, even an hour or two by car, can be annoying for those who will have to drive home after and have work on Monday.

I personally prefer Saturday showers. I like to relax on Sunday to get ready for the work week.
  • In my experience, showers are on Sunday. If someone has a Saturday shower, it is because an important guest is traveling (mother/sister/MIL, etc). I am in San Francisco.

I agree with this. I prefer to front load my weekend with things on Saturday that I have to do, then relax if possible on Sunday. Plus what others have mentioned if people in your circle attend church.
