High-Risk Pregnancy

GD Dx + counseling apt = RELIEF!

So I was Dx'd with GD two weeks ago and finally had my counseling appointment on Monday. I was so nervous waiting to be called back - thank goodness the DH was able to go with me.   After looking at Baby 2 lbs 1 oz and all measurements perfect!), going through the MD visit, the nurses consultation (teaching me how to take my sugars and education on GD) and the nutritionist visit, it was SUCH A RELIEF to hear all three say, "Wow, you are so borderline you are going to be just FINE managing this with diet."  The nutritionist even said, "Wow, you ARE eating healthy, you eat better than I do!"

I guess I've been unconsciously freaking out about this since I was diagnosed, and I seriously felt a HUGE weight lifted off my shoulders the further I went through the appointment.

But anyways, aside from wanting to share my joy I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for being so so so supportive :D You ladies are the best!! (going to repost on Oct 2013 board as well).

Re: GD Dx + counseling apt = RELIEF!

  • Glad you are feeling relieved. Two weeks ago I failed the 1 hr, then for the 3 hr I was borderline as well. Of the 3 numbers I failed one, passed one, but the middle number was like 150/154. So today I go in and they said they are basically asking me to eat a gd diet but not needing me to test and all of that. I was up 2 lbs this week and she said that was really good and thinks ill do fine, though baby boy was measuring about 3 weeks ahead. I am to have weekly appointments to the end as I'm high risk regardless of the GD as my first was a preemie. Wants me to be prepared that this baby will be bigger than my last. #2 was just under 8lbs. I have to say I'm a little nervous. PROM, normal pg, then gd baby. Oy.

    good luck.

  • Congratulations! That is great news and such a relief! I am only 6 weeks but was borderline before pregnancy so I went to a GD class and nutritionist who told me it was controllable with diet and exercise. Hopefully my numbers don't increase much as the pregnancy goes along but I know exactly how you feel! It's terrifying but manageable.

Congrats and H & H pregnancy to you!
