2nd Trimester

16 weeks painful crotch

Hello! I just hit 16 weeks and this week I have been experiencing a lot of lower pelvic pain. It feels like someone has kicked me in the crotch and I just feel like bruised sore.  It's supper sore and when I walk I get a pain that feels I like I'm being pinched. I've had a lot of other discomfort this week. Some stretching and mild random cramping, with back pain.

Has anyone had this pain?

  • You're not alone. It will likely develop into full blown pelvic girdle pain by third tri. I had it really badly with my son, and it's already getting bad with this baby.

There isn't much you can do for it, just rest when you can.

  • I'm having lots of pains again this week too and I'll be 16 weeks on Saturday so you're not alone. They are sharp twinges in my uterus area which I've had before and assume is just more growing pains. I've also had some sharp shooting pains in te groin area which I'm guessing is RLP. The joys of pregnancy! I have my next appt on Monday and can't wait to hear my little one's heartbeat again! THAT is a true joy of pregnancy!
  • . Mine started at 16weeks and now its a lot more painful.

  • Sounds like round ligament pain.

  • I talked to my dr this week about it. Tylenol she said to take.
  • I'm almost 18 weeks and have had it for weeks now. It hurts to roll over in bed, to cross my legs, etc. I've done a little research and it could also be "SPD" or "Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction". I'm going to bring it up at my appointment next week because it freakin hurts. Sorry you're dealing with this too.

Ugh! Sorry you feel this same pain but glad to know I'm not the only one. Yes, it does freaking hurt. Sometimes much more than others! I plan on asking at my 18 week appt.

  • Same as everyone else...yes, and unfortunately there's not too much you can do. I have a bruised, sore feeling in my pelvic/hip area already. At times it almost feels like my pelvis is cracking at the hip joints. Sad No fun at all. I didn't have this until 7 months or so with my DD, so I'm pretty bummed that it's happening already before I'm even 20 weeks.

Yep I have it too.  It just feels really sore and pressure down there.  I am bringing it up with my doctor on Wednesday.
  • Brought it up to my doctor at 20 weeks and she suggested getting the belly belt to help with the pressure on the pelvis. At night when I turn I can hear my hips or pelvis crack and it hurts. I try not to move as much as I can bc it can cause issues after birth of baby.
  • I have SPD too. It feels like someone grabbed me by the vag and is ripping me in tow. Rolling over in bed is excruciating and the more I walk, the worse I hurt. My pelvis pops too, and it's gross and hurts. The PA at my doctor's office took me off work until I see the doctor next Thursday.

  • I had this pain with my second pregnancy. It was particularly bad when I was getting in and out of bed to the point I used to dread it.
  • Just an FYI:

I had pain similar to this for three weeks. I thought I had pulled a muscle. I was also having a lot of Braxton Hicks.

It started getting more intense so I went to the OB and it turned out I had an infection. It was also causing the contractions.

If you start feeling 'achey' or like you may have a mild uti, have your doc check you.
