Re: UO Thursday

  • I really hate how the media thinks every little detail of the george zimmerman trial is newsworthy.  I don't care that the jurors went bowling and ate at outback steakhouse.  honestly I'm tired of hearing about the whole thing.  the verdict is in... it's done... move on to something else please

  • I don't like any of the SAHM groups in my area that I've observed so far. I feel like I have nothing in common with these women. Probably because we are on too different income levels. They stay at home because they can, I stay at home because I work weekends so we can avoid daycare costs. At the park yesterday, they were griping about which winery to go to on Saturday and flaming one for not bringing organic snacks. Pretty sure they would side eye me giving my kids Dora fruit snacks because they were on sale. I'm seriously considering starting my own group for the middle class. ..hated judgy in high school, pretty sure I don't want to start being bffs now.

    Agreed.

Can't think of a good one, but I will say that I cannot get into sweet potatoes. They make me want to vomit. Ha.

Oh, I also hate chocolate frosting. I love most anything chocolate, but I hate chocolate frosting.

I LOVE sweet potatoes but only sweet potato fries and my grandma's candied sweet potatoes. otherwise I'm not interested.

yea I posted on there a few days ago.  that was a mistake.  I was looking for more names to add to my list since i'm indecisive and I want something that's not too common and said I didn't want names like allison, alexandra, ect and those were the only suggestions I got.   pointless.

I agree about the part about the jurors. If the courts take me away from my family and friends for weeks they better take me to outback and bowling. Why is this news?

Im sorry that stinks. We have a lot of groupsin our area some are pretentious jerks and others are great. The group Im part of is so diverse and I love it! Do you use meetup? There miht be more in your area you are unaware of.

I'm on meet up but since our older two kids are 11 and 13, I'm waiting for baby yo get here so I have a younger child to bring along when we hang out. I hope they aren't so stuck up and don't look down on me for shopping a kmart or target.

  • I don't think that an infant carrier is a necessity. I understand that the majority of moms use them for a variety of reasons which is great for them. One of those reasons isn't safety though, an infant carrier and a correctly installed rear facing convertible seat must pass the same crash tests. I find it annoying that people tell me my baby won't be as safe or they won't let me leave the hospital if I don't have an infant seat...it's just not true!

Everyone here in Boston is not happy about it. Apparently RS doesn't think they did anything wrong though so this may or may not be an UO.

ugh, I didn't see that but that is awful. The media is just getting out of hand these days.

I have no problem posting pictures of my child on my page because I know who I am friends with and I control the privacy settings. My issue is when others post pictures of my kid or tag themselves in my photos without my permission since it opens up access to my children to people I don`t know.

I totally agree.  DH's siblings were 5 and 1 when I met him.  MIL always put them to bed at 8, but they would watch TV for hours.  It was more like 8pm was "mom's shift is over now" time.  She just wanted them up in their rooms and out of her hair.

Agree. To make matters worse, I heard that the article more or less paints him as a victim of society. How he had been "let down" by those around him and that is what pushed him towards radicalism. I have not read the piece, so this may not be true. However, the cover alone angers me enough. You are Rolling Stone - report on North West or something.

  • The your baby your rules concept annoys me. Yes there are certain things that you want to be able to control but in reality what right do you have to tell others what they should do with their body? I do not think it is okay to demand someone to get a shot or wear certain things. Everyone should wash their hands before handling a newborn, that is pretty much common knowledge. I have also learned through experience, the more you shelter a baby from world and the surroundings the more sickly child you will have. Children have to be exposed in order to build their immune system.

I agree!  DH and I are adamant about no tv, computer, etc in bedrooms.  We JUST put a tv in our room (after 6 years of marriage) a few months ago and rarely use it.

In addition to this, I hate when said people who put their kids to bed with a movie, get irritated that I don't have a DVD player in my guest room so that their kids have something to fall asleep to.  Umm...sorry?!

I agree that is it disgusting and is just creating a fantasyland for future terrorists/mass killers. However, I think RS knew exactly what they were doing when they made that cover and they are getting the exact attention that they wanted. When is the last time you ever mentioned RS to a friend or heard about it on TV until now? They are in this mainly for the press, good or bad.

I agree, and it makes me laugh. It's just really unrealistic to expect everyone ever in contact with your child to be fully vaccinated, unless you put the kid in a bubble for 3 or so years until all the vaccinations are done.

You are correct, but you do realize that when you go to church, the grocery store, the mall, to a resturant you have no clue what vaccines anyone around you has had. Are you going to ask every single person that gets around LO if they have had the Tdap? You know as well as I that people can't keep their hands off of babies, whether they know you or not.

As a FTM and in my defense on this, the books I have read, internet sites I am on, that silly little ticker in my signature all say that 37 weeks is full term. So that has been what I go off of.

That being said, I am in no hurry to try and induce labor and get things moving. As anxious as I am to meet my LO I know it's best for baby to be in there for another 3 weeks.

This one has been a heated debate on here many times before. I think there are too many resources out there that say one thing while others say the other!!

    Very confusing for sure!

I agree with this 100%.  you can't shelter your child from everything and I think my parents not sheltering me is why I have such a strong immune system now.  I get sick once a year maybe and have NEVER had the flu.  I will get the recommended vaccines for my child but I won't tell someone what to do with their body in order to see my child if they are a family member or friend.

I definitely agree with this and I dont shelter my son from every little germ, sniffle, etc. However, I asked my ILs to (voluntarily) consider the Tdap vaccine because of their personalities. They would mouth kiss (vomit) my infant and would lie when they were sick because they didnt want to miss a day of seeing LO. Because of that, it was important to me that they get it.

    I kept trying to remember mine but finally got it. I believe when children are put to bed, it is time for bed. No television. I don't think you should tell a child it is bedtime and then send them off to bed with a movie. No. Television off, lights off, kisses and hugs and go to sleep.nbsp;

not a UO in my house! And thank goodness, bc DD goes to sleep just fine without a movie, tv, sippy, nothing..we have our nights that I'll lay in bed with her for a little snuggle time but its not an hour deal..bath, potty, teeth and one last drink, then lights out..bed!
