Slight bleeding

I am 7 weeks today. This afternoon I went to the restroom and when I wiped there was pink blood on the toilet paper. It freaked me out and I wiped again. I saw pink blood the second wipe too. Nothing in the toilet though. I had slight cramping but I've been cramping the whole time I've been pregnant so I'm not sure if its a bad sign or not. I called my doc who told me to go home, rest and just monitor it. When I got home about an hour later I used the restroom again and there was less blood on the toilet paper this time and it was more of a dark brown color. I've been to the bathroom three times since then and there is no blood at all. It has now been about 7 hours since I first saw the blood and I'm not bleeding at all now. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? This is my first pregnancy and I'm worried. Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Slight bleeding

  • I spotted last night.. it was brown, nothing pink or red.. this is my 3rd time spotting this pregnancy.. first time was implantation bleeding, second time was because I had an "O" and it caused me to cramp and spot.. then last night. I don't know what caused it to happen last night other than the fact that I have read spotting is normal in the first trimester as long as it is not accompanied by period like cramps.

In my experience, if the bleeding/spotting goes away I think you will be okay.. my 1st and 2nd miscarriage I started spotting then became really uncomfortable and feeling icky.. then the bleeding got heavier and bad cramps.

     Hope this helps :)

  • I had an hour of horror today when I felt a gush, then about a dime size clot and bright red bleeding. It continued for about an hour, never filling a pad, but passed a few more clots. I had two u/s in the past few days, so that is what my doctor attributed it to. The bleeding has gone down and there has been no cramping since the incident.

My doctor said to just lay low, rest, and I'm having another u/s next Wednesday. Your doctor will give you the best advice they can, trust them.

Spotting can be normal during pregnancy. It's definitely a good sign that it has stopped! I hope it stays away now for the rest of your pregnancy, so that you won't have to worry anymore.

  • With my last pregnancy, I had light bleeding and spotting off and on until I was 9 weeks.  After that it went away completely.  I know it's scary, but sometimes it just happens.

  • Thanks for all the info ladies! No sign of any blood so far today so I'm hoping it was just a one time thing. I'm still so worried it will happen again I've been to the restroom about a dozen times today to check but I'm trying to stay positive. All your stories are helping keep my chin up! Much appreciated!!!
