I read Omnivore's Dilemma - it was great, although I was not as impressed with his arguments for In Defense of Food. I agreed with his sentiment, but remembered his arguments were weak and had holes. It definitely had me thinking and I did change some things. I do try to eat processed foods less and if I do, I try to keep it at minimal ingredients - although that is hard to do when I am craving my M&M's!
We are trying to make the switch to local produce only but it's so seasonal here I'm afraid we'll starve.We'd have to start canning which I'm not ready for this year.Yeah his books are great, can't wait to start reading Cooked.nbsp;
Where do you live?
We belong to a CSA
There is no way is ever can though lol
In Defense of Food is all about whole foods instead of individual nutrients, which makes sense to me even if his arguments are scientifically weak.
We're in OH, billions of farmers markets but not so many in winter.
Canning is fun, but canning with baby and two jobs? omg how can this be possible?
I do a lot of canning and I'm wondering the same thing!
I would love to can but the only thing stopping me is wasting food because somehow I know I'll screw and canning is not something ya wanna mess up. I enjoy documentaries on food and health though, I find it fascinating and irritating all at the same time.
?Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.?
