I feel like I need to make an introduction all over again anytime I make a post because I mainly just comment. Hopefully someone remembers me haha.
My question: DH's half brother decided that for his birthday he wanted all siblings and their significant others to all go to six flags this Saturday. Now I know I obviously can't go riding roller coasters, but I'm wondering if there is anything there I CAN do besides eat and sweat. I'm also wondering if you ladies have any suggestions on keeping cool and hopefully keeping some swelling down since we will be walking around/ standing all day. It gets so hot I'm worried that even if I'm continuously drinking water I will probably still get dehydrated.
Re: Question about amusement parks
Ack, if it was me going, I'd be bringing a book and hiding in the AC all day.
Or, in all honesty, I'd be sitting the celebration out. I'd hate to spend that much money to go somewhere and be uncomfortable all day, and I feel like I'd be seen as a party pooper for not wanting/being able to trudge around the park and be on my feet with everyone else all day.
The thought of an amusement park makes me want to puke
I'm not sure how the weather is where you would be going but it is hot and humid as hell where I am .. I'd avoid it if you can..I'm also a big baby with the heat and avoid it at all costs!
ETA: If they have a waterpark maybe you could hang out there..
The problem is I'm viewed as a party pooper if I don't go. All five siblings and their significant others are going, and DH feels bad leaving me at home all day. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive without traffic so I'm dreading it.
They should understand you're pregnant and there is not much a pregnant person can do at an amusement park! Hopefully you can find a way to stay cool, hydrated and comfortable
Is there a water park maybe you could do a lazy river??
Is there an arcade? I would hang out there as most likely it will have AC or at the very least be in the shade.
This is how I see it.
OP, are they going to view you as a party pooper if you need to take breaks (or hide out for the entire day) away from them, sitting in the shade, the lazy river, or an AC'd snack shop?
I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I know they want me to wait in lines with them and for them while they ride. The They being DH's family, DH fully expects me to hide somewhere. I know his step mom and older sister will be more understanding of how I'm feeling then others will.

The one in ATL is where we are going I'm in Alabama . I fully expect to miserable and hot. If his half brother wasn't so nice I would definitely not go, but since it's his birthday and he loves his siblings so much I'll just have to suck it up. Thank you for the suggestions! I haven't been in at least 10 years so I'm not sure what is there and what isn't anymore.
This would be so boring for you!
At first I was kind of in the "suck it up and find a place to hang out" camp, but honestly if you're not really going to get to spend much of the day with them because they are riding roller coasters and whatnot, what is the point of going?
Except if it has a lazy river, because I would be all in for that business right now.
ETA.... Just saw you said ATL. Not sure about that one.
Y'all should go to Six Flags White Water instead if they are determined that you go. Otherwise, I'd be sitting out.
DD had her 8th birthday at the water park last weekend and it was fun. If you go to White Water, at least you can stay cool. We had 6 girls and then about 20 other family members. I rode the lazy river, played with my nieces in the kids areas, and went down one slide.
It was a slow slide on a big tube, so me and baby were good, though I'm sure I got some side eyes dragging my fat a s s up those steps to get to it.

Call me a party pooper, I'd be out so fast your head would spin.
There is no water park there. There is a separate water park owned by 6 Flags but it is not in the amusement park. Hell to the no would I go. I seriously can't think of one thing you could do there, granted I haven't been in 5 years. Maybe ask if they want to do the water park instead. Do not feel obligated to go.
You'll just eat and sweat. Even at the carnival the merry go round had a sign that said not to ride if you're pregnant. And, I did go on one a couple months ago and another ride sort of like a Ferris wheel and felt awful afterwards.
My mom wants to take me, my sister, and our kids to a kids water park.. I can't do anything but want the kids to have fun.. Although my sister still convinced my mom to just have a day at the pool instead. Obviously it's a different situation but I do not think you would be a party pooper by not going! Even the walking alone would be rough!
We went to a tiny amusement park (Sesame Place) and I got on one ride that sort of rocked you back and forth and side to side. Bad idea. It didn't even have the pregnant people warning and I've been on it before. After that I avoided all rides because I felt horrible the rest of the day.
I don't know that I would go, personally. But if I had to I'd make sure I knew where the first aid stations were (they usually will let pregnant people sit in them and cool off), take one of those water bottle fans and a ton of frozen bottles of water.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
I'm late, but wanted to chime in. I agree with PPs that you probably should skip it. Who cares what DH's family thinks?
However, if you go, I would suggest you get a cooling towel. It will probably help a lot. I think you can get them at ***'s Sporting Goods.
