** Weekly Lovenox Ladies Check-in **

This check-in is for anyone dealing with clotting disorders, or for anyone doing once or twice daily shots of Lovenox, Heparin, Clexane, Fragmin, Arixtra, etc. (you are also welcome if you are on any other blood thinners - coumadin, aspirin, etc.) This is a place for us to share our frustrations, worries and triumphs.

What?s new this week? How is everyone feeling? How are your bruises?

If this is your first week checking-in, please let us know your EDD and the reason you are on blood thinners.

QOTW: There's a heat wave happening across the USA, how are you staying cool/hydrated in the heat? If you're on a different continent, how is the current season treating you?

Re: ** Weekly Lovenox Ladies Check-in **

  • Hey everyone, thank you SO much for your kind words and well wishes! I just went back and replied to each of you in the post from the weekend, but wanted to say thanks again here. All of the pain & annoyance of a HR pregnancy are well worth it now that I'm snuggling my little man at home, 5 more weeks of shots and I'm done with Lovenox! (Well, until DH & I decide to try for #2...)

I started up my Lovenox again in the post partum wing, and one nurse remarked while I gave myself my shot "oh, you're so brave!" I literally lol'd, because seriously? After going through labor & delivery, giving myself a little shot of medicine was so completely NOT a big deal.

Now that my tummy's not stretched tight I've got my pick of injection sites, which is great, but I'm definitely bruising more now. Oh well, just a few more weeks.

QOTW: All I want to do is get out of the house and take our LO for a walk, but it's currently 94 degres with a heat index of 103, so we're staying put. We've had to leave for a couple of errands, but DH has run out to get the car started so it will cool off before baby or I need to get in, and I'm drinking TONS of water. Stay cool ladies!

  • Hey ladies!

Aurora, glad to hear that you're doing so well. If you feel like sharing and get the time, I'd love to hear about your birth experience. Do you live in/near Chicago? Got any must see tips for parents with a 16 month old? I'll be in conference most of the days, but DH is planning on the aquarium, maybe a zoo and some museums.

My week is good.  I've really been having trouble sleeping lately and only managed about two hours last night, so I'm struggling at work today. Plan to hear home and pack, then get to bed early tonight! I told DH that he has to make me drink lots of water tomorrow and get up to walk on the flight every 20 minutes or so. Flying and blood clots are no joke!

Bruising is still minimal. I see the MFM right when we get home next week and will be switched to heparin in the next month or so.

QOTW, I'm fairly cold natured, so the heat isn't bothering me too much. Mostly though, I try to stay inside or in a pool!

  • Hi Ladies~

Last week my OB switched my modified bedrest to strict due to some contractions. Although they were only BH, she wanted to be cautious because I delivered my twins at 18 weeks, and that is all she has for a comparison. I have an In Care nurse coming to the house to deliver my home leg compression machine. Yipee!

I have an appointment with my Hematologist next week to determine whether or not I will need another daily Lovenox shot. We shall see.

QOTW: My part of Texas has not been as harsh as previous years...so far. We have actually had a little rain. Since I am on rest, the AC has kept me oblivious to what goes on outside!

  • Hello Ladies!

Glad to hear you are doing well Aurora!

My shots have been fine.  I am waiting on the results of my GD test and I am going to start going to the dr every 2 weeks now.  I'm getting closer!

As far as the heat wave goes, here in GA this has been a relatively mild summer so far compared to the norm.  The constant rain here has been irritating.  It seems to rain every weekend, and I've only made it to a pool twice all summer so far!

  • I stumbled on this post and wanted to thank you for taking time to write it has been very helpful.

I am currently on Lovenox for factor five and previous DVT and PEs. Our estimated due dat is Feb. 3.

I live in west Texas the summer has been very hot I have avoid going outside. Although this week it's been rainy and hasn't gotten above 80 it's been wonderful.

  • Saw the MFM today and he switched me to Arixtra daily. He thinks I may have heparin antibodies which is why I had a DVT last week while on heparin. So back to one shot daily instead of 4 will be nice.
Seeing a new hematologist tomorrow so he may change things up. Had my a/a scan today and baby girl is doing great.
