Baby Shower 411?

I'm due Dec 20th. I'm dying to get my registry going. How early should you register? How far into pregnancy do you have the shower? I don't know if I'm having a boy or girl yet, but I can still register for items that don't necessarily require knowing....right?! Any "must haves" you recommend?

    October is a good time to have the shower...you can actually start your registry now and add more things after you find out the baby's sex....

    My DH and I started our registries on Saturday, after I spent the last two months researching what we wanted (I am type A and needed to be doing SOMETHING for this kid).  I am due the 18th.  The shower will be October 19, because I didn't want to wait until November when the holidays get busy and weather can be bad.

    i pretty much finished my registry today. i didn't register for any clothes though, because so many people say people will buy whatever they want and i'll just keep what i like from that and then return the rest and buy what i want then. same with miracle blanket vs. swaddleme, and washcloths and bibs and stuff like that.

    i know a lot of people swear by those Aden & Anais blankets. i threw a couple of those on there.

    i don't know what sex i'm having yet either, but i just picked the colors i wanted in gear regardless of gender.

    i am clearly not very helpful on this lolol. sorry.

    I think the general guidelines is that if you are having a shower hosted for you the optimal timing is between 28-32 weeks. I had mine at 36 weeks and it was nbd though.

    You can get the registry going as soon as you'd like but it will be important to recheck it before your shower to make sure things haven't been discontinued by then.

    oh and i should add that i'm getting pack 'n plays, bouncers, a swing, bumbo, and a few other things from my older sister. so there really wasn't much to register for, tbh. my registry has 31 items on it, and that includes stuff like "baby tylenol" lol.

    I only registered for my 1st, and I registered as soon as we found out it was a boy. I had 2 showers, one at 35 weeks and one at 36 weeks.

    I'm having my shower in October at 30 weeks, when I'm still comfortable and have plenty of time to set up the nursery. I've already registered at Babies R Us and Target, for basic essentials or neutral colored items. Babies R Us will give you a list of essentials you'll need if you're not sure where to begin. Once I figure out the sex, we will go back and get more specific colored items and nursery d?cor.

    i'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and my registry is completely done. You will be suprised how much you get done without knowing the sex!  I went for gender neutral colors for the bedding because i don't find out til tuesday what i am having.  I think my mom is throwing my shower the second weekend of October.

    I'm 20 weeks now & I just registered last week...we still need to register at one more place, but that will be for just a few items, I think we're doing that in the next week or so.  As far as "must haves" I looked through Lucieslist.com & also looked at the "must have registry checklist" at babiesrus.com, here's the web address:

    I also googled other registry checklists just to be thorough, then I created my own master list from those lists in a Word document, printed it out, & checked things off as I registered for them at the store! yah I'm a little crazy, it's cool, lol.  I wanted to be prepared, esp being a FTM. =)
