LOOKING FOR A OB/MIDWIFE IN NJ...

I'm currently 5weeks pregnant and looking for a midwife in my area. I live in northern NJ. I found a midwife @ Childbirth & women's wellness center, they are affiliated with Mountainside Hospital in Montclair NJ (Which is very close to me). The problem I'm having is that every time I call it goes to an answering service only for emergencies, no one ever picks up the phone :-/ ............. Now I am going into panic mode, I am overwhelmed that i can't find an OB or midwife!!. According to the receptionist at my GYN's office my doctor is not affiliated with any midwife, instead she recommends that I continue to see her until I am 12 weeks then she would transfer me to aObstetrician.   I do not want to do that!  I prefer to have  a provider that will carry me through, from the beginning till the end.    Does anyone here have any recommendations for a midwife or a great Obstetrician that supports natural birth??

I had a really bad experience at the first place you mentioned and switched to Kristin Mallon in Hackensack.  She works with an OB and I love them both.  Here is the website: https://www.njmidwifery.com/

If you submit the form asking for more info she will email you back pretty quickly.  It is easy to get an appointment.  They are VERY flexible with preferences you may have.  Both of them are very supportive of VBAC.  The OB is a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and has a reputation for letting women deliver multiples vaginally as opposed to pushing c-sections (which is very common....especially at HUMC).  Good Luck!!

I use the Midwives of NJ.  They deliver at Morristown Memorial (which has birthing tubs, yay!) They have an office in Hackettstown and one in Madison.  There are 3 midwives there who are all wonderful.  North Jersey is a pretty big area so I am not sure how far this is for you, but I know they do free consultations if you wanted to meet them.

Right now just Holy Name, but she should be at Hackensack by the end of the summer too.

I highly recommend the ladies at Avalon Midwives. They have ofices in Morristown and Caldwell. I am preparing for a VBAC and they have been wonderful. They deliver out of Morristown and Summit.
