WWYD?

I had my first appointment last week. The did an ultrasound then the nurse told me I was measuring 2 weeks under. I did not see the dr and I was left with worry and fear that everything was not ok. I am supposed to go back in a week for a rescan to make sure I am progressing, but I'm not sure I trust the office. Would you stick it out and see if they are more supportive in the future? Or go somewhere else?

Re: WWYD?

  • I'm sorry your experience sucked at your first appointment!  I would have insisted on seeing the doctor.  It's hard to think straight though during something like that.  I would go one more time, bring a list of questions regarding measuring etc.. and insist on having a consult with the actual doctor.

If after seeing the doctor you still don't feel like you are being supported properly I would look to change.

  • You're much more patient than I am.  I would have never let them tell me that without asking to speak with the doctor.  Does being two weeks behind match up with when you could have conceived?  If so, I would probably be okay waiting another week.  If not, I would call the doctor and ask for more info.

After referring back to ff I think it is exactly when we conceived, but I was confused based off of LMP and an ultrasound dates. After much more googling I think baby is fine. Just wished someone would have made it sound positive vs having a miscarriage. I was almost in tears when I was rescheduling my appointment.
  • I personally think you should go with your gut feeling. If you feel like they are not giving you the care and information you need then this is the best and easiest time to find a new doctor. Like someone above said maybe wait to see the doctor, and if you still feel uneasy switch.

I say trust your instincts. It's really important for me to feel like I'm in good hands. I switched doctors after my first appt with my last pregnancy and it was the best decision. I ended up having a miscarriage at 16 weeks and having a great doctor/office really made things easier and less scary. Now that I'm pregnant again, the doctor/office has been 100 patient with me with all of my fears and anxieties. I feel like they really care about me and they were so excited when I finally got pregnant again.

  • I'm thinking the reason you weren't told to see a doctor is because the ultrasound tech wasn't concerned about you measuring under.  However, if you were concerned, I think it's more than acceptable to call the office and ask for an appointment regarding the u/s.  At this point, perhaps tell the office that you were unhappy with how things went and ask for explanation on why you weren't told to see the doctor.
