Anyone's 7 month old not crawling yet?

Hi all-

My LO  is 7 months and one week today and not crawling yet- she can sit completely unsupported minutes at a time and rolls all over, but she has not started doing the rocking to crawl. When we lay her on her play-mat on her stomach, she maneuvers all around and  "army crawls" all over the floor- she just hasn't hefted up her butt and gotten on her knees yet to do the traditional crawl....my other one was crawling by this point. Just wanted to hear from some other mom's on what their 7 month old'S are up to.

TIA

Re: Anyone's 7 month old not crawling yet?

  • Elli's not crawling. She scoots, army crawls but has no interest in the traditional crawl. She would much rather be standing, she works her way over to a chair or the couch and pulls herself up.

  • Skye is about 1wk away from 7mnths and she is not really crawling in the traditional sense either.  It sort of reminds me of how tadpoles swim.  She moves around w/her arms and hands, and her legs sort of spread out tadpole like. Hahahahaha

  • Ali did army crawl for about 1 or 2 weeks and just started to use arms up. Wait a week and it could change.

  • Mine will be 7 months on Saturday and she doesn't crawl yet...she can get up on all 4s and rock, but then she gets mad and flops on her belly and "flies" (throws her arms out and legs out) and screams.

Kerbear135 - She's just getting her twerking practice in.  Wink

  • We're not quite to 7 months yet, but he just started rolling over 2 weeks ago and still can only go front to back (mostly because he has absolutely no interest in being on his belly, no matter how I entice him).

All that to say - nope, there's no way he'll be crawling in a week!

DD will be 7 months tomorrow and isn't even close. She can sit unsupported for 20-30 minutes without falling over, rolls all over, scoots a little bit but isn't interested yet in army crawling or crawling. Normal is anywhere from 6 to 9 months I think so no worries. Some babies don't crawl at all and skip right to walking. Try not to compare your little one to anyone else's. I know a lot of babies on here are crawling but can't sit steadily unsupported for very long, and others are pulling but can't sit or crawl, and others are doing all three. Babies do things when they feel like it!

DD is doing the exact same things. She crawled backwards once but she would rather sit or roll around.

Same here. DS will be 7 months tomorrow and he just rolled back to front for the first time a few days ago haha. He's definitely not near crawling yet.

  • Nope. He'll get on his tummy and lift up on his arms, but that's about all. I figure he'll do it when he's ready.

This is us.  She loves to sit and roll onto her tummy right now.  But pretty much still hates being on her tummy.  My DS didn't truly crawl hands/knees until he was 8 months.  So I'm feeling like we're right on track.  No worries here.

  • Thanks for all of the responses! I always feel better after I post a question on this board:)
  • Mine is 7 months 6 days and I don't even think he's really close to crawling.  Maybe a month away?  My oldest didn't crawl until 9 months.  He didn't scoot, roll, or army crawl...he went from not moving an inch to up on all fours and full on crawling.

  • Faye hates her belly.  Just recently she started accepting being on it..  I think because she can push her self up high enough to play with stuff and see whats going on.  Normally though she quickly rolls over..   Shes very good at rotating on her belly.  and I noticed yesterday that she will roll  then rotate to the direction she needs to go,  roll again. stop and play. rotate and roll again.

Not even close. Dd just started sitting up in the past couple weeks and I can count on my fingers how many times shes ever rolled over.
