Success after IF

ttc for 3 years now..

Me and my husband have been trying to concieve for three years now, started clomid in june and had am now 10dpo.. having some crazy symptoms of pregnancy, sore breasts, nausea, some smells are making me wanna hurl as soon as I smell them, night sweats like crazy, etc. Any ladies have success their first round of clomid?

Re: ttc for 3 years now..

• Unfortunately, no. It took a lot of hormones and 2 rounds of IVF for us to have success. Have you had an HSG or similar? Has your husband been tested?

You may have luck on the TTTC board. Most women here and on PAIF have gotten pregnant only through IUI or IVF (though I can't speak for everyone).

• Nope tried clomid twice and never responded to it even when upped. But I know my friend's friend just got pregnant off her first round of it. That is clomid without stims or iui. Good luck

March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

• I didn't but I have a friend IRL who did. I just want to second what pp suggested about making sure you have had the appropriate testing - cycle day 3 blood work to check hormone levels, a HSG to make sure your tubes are open, and a SA for your dh at least - before you start treatments. Also, make sure you are monitored with u/s when taking Clomid. I wouldn't suggest going through your OB for this. If you have been TTC for three years it is a good idea to see a RE (reproductive endocrinologist - fertility specialist) if you're not already. Wishing you the best of luck!

Surprise! Baby #4 is due in March!
• My sister conceived on her second round and I conceived (later miscarried) on my third round of Tamoxifen, which works in a similar way. My RE discovered that I am not a good candidate for Clomid, as it thins my lining. And, ditto what Dragonfly said. Despite having the full panel of testing (HSG, Semen Analysis, day 3 blood work, diagnostic ultrasounds...), I was not fully monitored during my cycles with the OB/GYN. It was so dangerous and I could just smack myself for taking such a serious risk with my health. After my loss, I switched to the RE and got the quality of treatment I needed to be successful. Best of luck to you and DH!

• Hsg?? And yes, my husands been tested, he's all good although his counts lower than normal due to childhood cancer but they're all swimmers so its not him.. unfortunately its me, I was diagnosed with severe not sure what stage endometriosis and ovarian cysts, the OB I go to is a specialist and so far he's steered me in the right direction.. if clomid doesnt help by end of august we have to go another route, being IUI or IVF. How was your experience with those two? I'm nervous about having to do that but Ive heard success rates are a tad better! Thank you for understanding and not being rude.. I posted on the TTTC forum and out of 6 replies only two women were nice.. I can't find the right forum I guess and am just looking for some ladies who have been through all of this and won't be mean but understanding, nice and as helpful as possible. I know nobodies a doctor on here and that's not what I'm expecting from anyone.. pretty down now because of the other forum, they made me feel awful.

Babydust to you three!!!
• Ive never heard that before, but it makes a lot of sense that it could make the endo grow faster... if that's the case I'm going to have to go to an RE get it figured out... only issue is with that would most likely come IVF I and my husband don't have that kind of money =
• I did in my first round of clomid plus iui Plus progesterone. My brother and his wife got pregnant on their second round of clomid. Clomid for me had alot of side effects. Why don't you just POS? Then tell us...

• I have an appointment friday afternoon to find out so I'm trying to not get so anxious I go buy a test because its so close, ya know?
• And I agree with the side effects, they've been crazy! thank you!! I'm trying to ignore them.
• Unfortunately no... we tried one round of clomid but I hated being on it. Also, we tried it before seeing our RE, so after we met with him and did all our tests, we decided that IVF was the best choice for us. We were very lucky that our first round of IVF worked!!
Skylar Elena and Hollyn Isabella... our two beautiful blessings arrived April 18, 2013!

IVF isn't automatic with endo. Make an RE appt and see what they have to say. I tried other (less expensive) treatments once I got my endo diagnosis. One option is Femara, which works similarly to clomid but doesn't cause it to grow (and it's not that expensive and most prescription insurance plans cover it). Just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you.

That's what I was going to say. RE does not equal IVF. I got pg with femara and IUI. FTR, I had serious, dangerous side effects on clomid. So I highly caution anyone against using it without proper monitoring.
The 3T girls have been through a lot and are still fighting. IF really does a number on you.
TTC with PCOS since November 2009
IUI#1 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP, m/c
IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN

beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
beta #2 11/28 = 2055
