negitive preg tests.

My 2 home pregnancy tests were both negitive. I went to the doctor and their test was negitive also. They had to draw blood to test it for pregnancy.. I know I'm pregnant because I am very intune with my body. Has this ever happends to any one else?

now just waiting for the results...

Re: negitive preg tests.

  • It is very rare to get a false negative, especially with a blood test.  I'm sure you know this, but a HPT tests for the hormone HCG, which your body ONLY produces when you are pregnant, and never does otherwise.  Basically if there is ANY of the hormone in your body then you are pregnant.  So if no tests are detecting this hormone in your body then you are not pregnant.  The only other reason would be if it is way too early in your pregnancy, like you haven't even missed a period yet...

  • The blood test hasn't come back yet. I'm waiting on a call from the doctor. I haven't had a period since the beginning of may. So either I am preg or something is wrong with me.
  • Mud? No. Today I my first time on this board since my 1st child was born.

  • I'm thinking the only thing you have left to do, you're doing! If you really feel like you are pregnant then your blood test results should tell you. If that turns out to be negative, you should probably make an appointment to figure out why you haven't had a period in so long. Good luck!

  • If you have not had a period since the begining of May you would be 8+weeks pregnant. At that point you should be able to get a positive home pregnancy test. Do you have regular cycles or have you recently come off birth control?

Sounds like it's time for you to get your tuner adjusted.

Um, negative on all of the tests means not pregnant. Sorry about that. Guess you are not as "in tune" as you think. Bodies are weird and yours wouldn't be the first or last to throw their owners for a loop.

  • Really? How freaking rude are you?
  • I really cant believe some of these replies! Dont listen to the majority of them! False negatives are very common. If you dont test at the right time you will get a negative. I took a test 6 days before my missed period and it was negative then the nest day took another and it was positive! False positives are very rare not false negatives!

that was not a false negative.  When you took the test your body was NOT producing HCG that could be detected in urine.  At that specific point in time you were not pregnant.

ETA: Also, the beta unit of hCG is secreted by multiple tumors types, so false positives are a possibility.

Yep, you are probably not pregnant...

But out of curiosity...explain how you are in tune with your body and just know that you are in fact pregnant...did you feel the egg and sperm meet???

That is how I knew I was totes pregnant with this one...

  • I highly suggest asking the doctor you went to what he/she thinks could be going on if you're not pregnant and haven't had a period since May.  All cycles vary and you could be going through some changes that are absolutely nothing to worry about, but I would want to be 100% certain if I were in your situation.

I understand what you mean in regards to being in tune with your body.  I have very recently started using F.A.M. and it's so great to know that what I'm feeling is accurate and confirmed by my B.B.T., C.M. and C.P.  I highly suggest it to anyone who is interested in a natural approach to T.T.C. or trying to avoid it.  :-)

     Positive thoughts are with you!

  • I highly doubt you are pregnant if you are getting negative tests this late in any cycle unless you ovulated less than a week or so ago. It is possible that you did have a chemical pregnancy which could explain why this cycle has been so long and you just missed it with your hpt.

Actually, there is no such thing as a "false negative" (WTF?). There is "not enough HCG to register on the test because you are early" OR "not pregnant". Negative is negative. It can't be false. You are not pregnant at the time you took the test. End of story. IF you were, you would get a positive. Its really not that hard of a concept.

Well, if you insist that the doctors are wrong, you could always get an ultrasound so you can see with your own eyes.

This is a good idea. You could page Elisan27 on the Dec '13 board. She does her own ultrasounds and could do yours too.

Sorry, OP. it does not sound like you are pregnant. Bodies are weird sometimes.
