Completely lost

I'm 5 weeks 5 days and this morning I started having spotting. I didn't think anything of it then it happened again at work, needless to say I freaked out a little. I have a history of d&c and miscarriages so I immediately thought OH MY GOD it's happening again. I called my dr and got in today instead of my scheduled appt for Thursday 2 days from now. They did an ultrasound which they could only see a very small gestational sac, there was no yolk sac or visible baby. I talked to dr he said my cervix was closed and he saw no blood during the quick exam he did. He said he didn't really have a good answer for me. I'm already doing progesterone supp at night,taking my prenatals and still taking my temp every morning. He told me they'd test my hcg levels today and again Thursday and have me go back Friday for results. I'm ridiculously nervous and don't know whether I should still be excited that I'm pregnant or prepare for bad news. Any thoughts??

Sorry you are going through this. If your HCG levels are going up appropriately you are prob fine but you should request a repeat u/s next week.

I had spotting between 5 and 6 weeks. They did not do an ultrasound because it was too early. They check my hcg levels once then 48 hours later. They were doubling in number so that was good. That was a long and scary week so I understand. Try to stay calm and rake it one day at a time.

I did not have spotting, though I know tons of women who did at around 5 to 6 weeks. I had an U/S at 5w5d and the tech only saw a sack, nothing else. My levels rose the right amount, the next u/s showed a baby.

Try to relax as best you can. I hope the next two days go by quickly for you.

Fingers crossed for you, I hope everything goes ok. I would say just make sure your having ur levels checked to make sure they are doubling and another US. (like mentioned before). I had spotting at 5 weeks and found out i had low progesterone and was placed on supplements at that time. Since you said u are already on supplements (are they suppositories?) and if so could they maybe be irritating you? I heard that is possible and some ppl can spot. There was one time where I scratched myself inserting one night (ouch) and the next day I had spotting once when I wiped. I mentioned it to my dr at the next appt and she said that it would make sense that it came from when I scratched myself. Sorry TMI. But Best of luck and praying for a healthy baby growing in there!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and crossed fingers! It's super encouraging to know that y'all have gone through similar circumstances and everything went well for y'all. I'm going to request another US for next week if I can and hopefully well see our little bug. I actually didn't even think that it could've been the progesterone suppositories that were causing the spotting. I know this morning I was taking my bbt vaginally and it didn't feel quiet right I brought it up to dr but he didn't see a scratch I guess. The spotting at least for now has subsided so maybe it was just a scratch. Lab work again Thursday, will update y'all then. Best wishes with all your pregnancies!

I had bleeding at 5w,4d and had an u/s which showed an empty sac. A week later, we saw 2 HBs.

Being pregnant after a loss is so hard to stay calm esp when you see blood. I had spotting at 5wks 5days and I am currently 21wks. Not every bleed means miscarriage. I had bleeding from 1618wk and spotting from 1921 wks. I say try to remain relaxed until you get your hcg results. Continue taking your progesterone and prenatals :

And it's very normal not to see baby so early. Give it a few more days up to a week baby should appear you :

Wow I'm so sorry you are going through this! Again, like what the others have already said:

-Try to relax and take your mind off of it! Stress will not help you or the baby right now. Keep busy, but just don't over do it.

- It is very early to see baby on an u/s, even the awesomely unpleasant vaginal ones.

- Spotting can be normal if it's around the time your period "should" be due. I had that happen the first 3 months and everything is fine now.
