We had some red delicious apples that were getting kind of gross, so I turned them into applesauce. Actually, I never really like red delicious apples, but my aunt gave them to me.
Anyway, I peeled and cubed them and cooked them in the crock pot for a few hours with a little water. Then I blended it, and now we have applesauce! I had this grand idea months ago that we would make all of the baby food, but I got kind of lazy about it and bought store bought. I honestly feel like nothing's wrong with store bought baby food, but this was so easy in the crock pot.
Have any of you given your LOs applesauce, and were there any adverse reactions? We did mostly just veggies for a while. Then last week I gave him fruit, and he liked it, but he got a little diaper rash. Maybe from the extra sugar and acid? So I'm a little hesitant to give him fruit now, but maybe we'll try it tomorrow.
Re: Applesauce
This.

I made homemade chunky applesauce last week.
DH had told me how he hated applesauce, so I have been avoiding it, but had a craving so I made some. He loved it and so did LO.
No issues for either one of them. Lol.
If you have a bunch left over, you can freeze it in ice cube trays and then transfer to freezer bags.
