Worried about DD refusing bottles

So the last 2 weeks DD has taken less volume at each bottle feeding. SHe now has four 4 ounce bottles & one 5 ounce bottle a day. Which I think for her age is just below the low end of normal.

She eats solids pretty well. 3-4 ounces 3 times a day, plus wants bits while we are eating dinner (bread, yogurt, cheese), etc. She acts like she's starving so I can't see not giving her extra.

Problem is, tonight she refused her before bed bottle altogether. I tried it is a sippy cup, which she takes water from just fine & she wasn't having it.

Anyone else go through this? Should I be worried? I know all the "food before 1 is just for fun", but she doesn't seem to think so.

Re: Worried about DD refusing bottles

  • Ashley has been doing the same thing. About half the time it's a struggle to get her to drink 5oz, now she is drinking 4oz. It is not consistent though but I only feed her a puree if she drinks her 5oz. Because of this she is eating a puree in the morning then around dinner time. Honestly I don't know if this is right but we have our pedi appointment in a few days so I am asking then.

  • B just went through this. His bottles dropped from 6 ounces to MAYBE 4. I was hard core worried and called the pedi and she said that it was totally normal and he would pick back up an then eat alllll the time to make up for it. Sure enough, the next week or so, he was like a baby food savage haha. Be ate and ate and ate and then went back to his regular 6 ounces.

  • this has been an issue for us as well.

He's EBF and I actually now only give him bottles during the day bc between the constant distraction and the biting it's easier for both of us.

    I wouldn't worry too much.
