Question about sitting up?

Yesterday our (almost) 5 month old posted up on her arms to sit up and play with a toy! YAY! My question is how long does it usually take for them to sit up without using their arms after they start doing this? I've heard everything from just a couple of weeks to a few more months. What's been your experience, or have you gotten here yet?

    For DS it was pretty quick, I'd say about a week or so. I did a lot of sitting behind him to support him, and encouraging him to sit up straight by holding a toy in front of him.

    IIRC, DS1 sat in the "tripod" position at around 5 months and sat up completely on his own with no support at 6 months, so not too long.  

    DS2 is 4 months and can already tripod sit so I am wondering if he is going to sit up independently earlier than his brother did.
