High-Risk Pregnancy

Help! 5 weeks and hospitalized

I found out I was pregnant on July 10th when I was having severe abdominal pain. I called my doctor and they rushed me in for a sono. They couldn't tell much from a preliminary sono and blood test so I came in the next morning (less than 12 hours later) for another sono and the internal bleeding had gotten worse so she admitted me to the hospital. After a 5 day stay with numerous blood tests and sonograms, I was sent home because I was stable and miserable in the hospital.

I was at home on strict bed rest and narcotics for a day and my symptoms changed and got worse. I had severe cramping and freaked out so my doctor had me come in immediately for a sono and sent me to the hospital. As soon as I was admitted again I was sent to see a perinatologist to check everything out and they found blood behind my uterus (from the ruptured cyst last week) and it was irritating my uterus so it started cramping in response. On top of it all I am being checked out for gallstones! I had been having weird gallbladder symptoms for months before I even got pregnant so we will see.

So my question... How is this all going to effect my fetus? What are my chances of miscarriage? Don't sugarcoat anything, I want to know everything I need to know because this cramping doesn't feel right and I know what intense cramping is because I have had really bad endometriosis for the last 10 years or so. Any feedback is welcome!!!

Re: Help! 5 weeks and hospitalized

  • Sorry you are dealing with this :

From my experience of miscarriage it isn't pleasant cramp wise. It feels like strong period cramps with red blood.

    How are your hcg levels?

You are still so early to really give advice. Your best bet is getting those levels monitor so it can give you a better idea about pregnancy. They should be doubling every 48hrs...

Baby is currently so small so I wouldn't see any effects on it but I am not a doctor. From what u read if you do have gallbladder problems that needs immediate attention surg is usually suggests when your in your 1216wks baby is strong enough for surg but not too be to get in the way..

    Sorry!!! Good luck
