Reflux?

Has anyone out there had any experience with reflux? I am not even sure that this is what our LO has, but her symptoms are:

She gets the hiccups daily, grunting when I lay her down after eating, spit up, but it's not projectile.

Maybe I am over thinking this, but it seems uncomfortable for her.

Any suggestions??

Re: Reflux?

  • My LO has it, she just got put on Zantac. She was projectile spitting up so much after every feeding she was immediately hungry again so it felt like I was constantly feeding her. Plus she had a hard time sleeping more than 4 hours total every night because she would grunt groan and writhe around in pain unless I held her upright. If you're concerned call your doctor and they can help you figure out if it's reflux.

  • Is it every feed? Does she raise her feet or arch her back when in pain/grimacing?
My LO was. I cut dairy and burp him as much as possible. And sit him up at least 30 mins after feeding. I'm going to check in with the pedi at my six week.

Yes, it seems like the drooling, grunting and spit up all started around the same time. She raises her feet when she is grunting, but I haven't noticed her arching her back. She also is having an issue with napping during the day. It seems like she grunts and groans in her sleep for a few minutes, maybe 10 min or so and then wakes herself up. It doesn't seem to affect her as much at night, but she still has the same symptoms.

  • Keep her upright for at least 20 minutes after feeds.  That alone made a world of difference for us!
  • My LO had those exact symptoms drooling, grunting straining and extremely gassy as well as spit ups. She barely slept ever day or night with her grunting n straining. She's EFF and we changed her formula 4x. She's finally on similac alimentum and doing better but she was diagnosed with reflux.

My LO is doing the same thing. He arches his back. Coughs sometimes and gags like something is burning his throat. He's had a couple of projectile spit ups. He is crying a lot, and his sleep is horrible right now. We go to the doctor on Friday, but I'm wondering if I should take him in before then. He's not getting enough sleep and just acting miserable. I feel so bad for him. I want to help him.

Same here... My LO was put on Zantac for it a couple weeks ago. The
Zantac doesn't seem to help her all that much, but someone suggested a product called colic calm. I found it on amazon and at Walgreens..... It has been a lifesaver!!
  • My LO had some of the same and is on zantac and we use nutramigen for formula. I also use probiotics in one of his bottles
