Saline injected u/s

Anyone gone through this? I am scheduled for the 8th... The instructions say to take 800mgs of ibuprofen prior to the appt... is it painful? They are looking for fibroids/polyps.

Mine was uncomfortable, maybe a little painful but not too bad. Take the ibuprofen -- it can't hurt.

I took 800 mg ibuprofen before and it really wasn't bad. I had a little bit of cramping when the saline was injected and the speculum insertion was uncomfortable. I think it helps to relax b/c I was just getting anxious about it and that really didn't help.

Interesting. I might get one in a few months and my doc said it's painless. Just like getting a pap.

I was fine during and about 2hrs after, but then I had some uncomfortable cramping for the next few hrs, I slept it off. I did take ibu beforehand.

A pap is not painless in my book!

I would say the saline ultrasound is more painful than a pap, but not a lot.

I had this done last month and the procedure itself wasn't bad. However, my RE had an issue getting the catheter in to inject the saline and needed to dilate my cervix and that was horrible pain. After that the procedure was just a little uncomfortable. As the nurse told me, your uterus doesn't ever want anything pushed inside of it.

I had some mild, AF like cramps for a couple of hours after and then was fine. I recommend taking the ibuprofen before just incase. I didn't need it for the procedure but I think it would have helped with the catheter puncture and dilation, but that's just my luck.

I'm having mine tomorrow morning. They gave me an antibiotic script but didn't say to take anything. But I've have five IUIs so I know what it feels like to have a cath stuck up there.

I've had 2 saline sonos...one last fall and the other a couple of weeks ago (I have blog posts about both-link in siggy) but in a nutshell I find them to be a combo of a pap, iui and transvaginal u/s. easy peasy and they were both over before I knew it.
