CD mamas come in!!!

What combo do you use for overnight? We've had a couple of leaks at night recently, so I was just curious about what is (or isn't) working for you.

You should post this on the CD board. Honestly, we had so many leaks that we are using sposies at night - Huggies Overnights. We use BG 4.0s during the day. I do think the hemp-fitted, micro-fleece liner, wool cover is a good combo for overnight. I just have to perfect the art of lanolizing my wool. I haven't figured that out yet - I'm obviously not lanolizing enough as the wool gets soaked through...
  • Loading the player...
  • I use a pocket with a MF insert and then a  thirsties hemp insert underneath.  We havent had any  issues.  SOmetiems we do an AIO with a thirsties hemp but  that gets a little bulky.   I very rarely get a leak and  when she does go to bed as she should it will last her 10p-10a.  But then its also heavy enough to put a hole through the floor :)

  • Thanks! I stole some ideas from the CD board as well. I guess it's just a matter of trying a few things out and seeing what works.

  • I use a fitted with a wool cover.  Bulletproof.

This is my 3rd CD baby and we've always used Motherease Sandy diaper with a stay dry liner and an added hemp insert and never had a leak.
  • We use either a tots bots bamboozle or SBish OBF fitted... Plus a hemp insert and an SBish doubler. I prefer wool covers, but if I haven't had time to lanolize, or they're still drying, I use a blueberry coverall.
  • And I'm tempted to buy a Twinkie Tush night night EVERY week haha...
  • We use a Flip cover with a Flip overnight organic insert and a fleece liner. My lo wiggles all over the crib while he sleeps and this combo has worked great.

  • This time, I only have to use a Fuzzi Bunz with both inserts. BUT, last time, I had the heaviest wetter on the planet. I used a premium prefold with a microfiber doubler in a Thirsties cover. Nothing else ever worked to keep him dry thru the night.

  • : this makes me sad. We started cd in the beginning but didn't have the money to buy the next size. We were doing prefolds.
Every time I throw away a disposable diaper I feel bad. I don't even know where to start now

  • Too funny, I was JUST searching for a new nighttime solution before I read this!

Up until now we used a Kawaii GNHW or a BG4.0 with a microfiber and hemp insert. I'm sick of not getting a good fit with the Kawaii and I'm not crazy about the BG combo either (love them for during the day though!!)

So, my next thing I'll try is a fitted and cover!

It would be easy to start up again!  Just another pack or two of prefolds and 3-4 covers!  I don't think it would be any more expensive than a box of disposables... $32 for a dozen GMD medium prefolds (that fit 15-29lbs).  And you can get OS covers for about $10-15 a piece depending on the brand.  Even if you got 2 dozen prefolds and 5 covers, it would run somewhere from about $100 to  $150.  But just think... that will last until she's 29lbs, and really you could use them til she potty trains if you just trifold in the covers instead of using a snappi...

Okay I'll stop trying to convince you now... I can't help it!

Prefolds are cheap and I still prefer them over pockets or AIOs on my 7 1/2mo old. I use Imagine Smart Fit from www.nickisdiapers.com. They are a little cheaper than GMD but really great quality too. I use them for overnights as well, just add a small Thirsties hemp doubler and Blueberry OS Coverall.

  • I know a lot of people don't like Alva's but thats all I use, just a pocket Alva with 2 of their standard bamboo inserts and we hardly ever have leaks.
