I haven't had this experience yet because I'm a FTM and due Sept. 5, but I just spoke with my OB about this at my 32 week appointment. She said I can be active as soon as I feel ready. Obviously you need to give your body the initial healing time, but she didn't see any problem with doing what feels good and doesn't interfere with my healing! Many of my friends have given it about 2 to 3 weeks before getting back into a light jog and their regular resistance training routines. Good luck and stay healthy!
I second the be active when you feel ready. I started with very light activity at 4 weeks pp. check out Lindsay brinn of moms into fitness she has a lot of safe an exercises for 46 weeks postpartum that I did :
Have you stopped bleeding? If so I think it's okay, but go very slow. Your body is still healing. I waited the full 6 weeks until I started doing anything more than slow walking
I have for the most part. Now I get some CM with a slight pink tint, which is much different than the bleeding I was having. It has been this way for about a week now. So I think I'm pretty lucky as far as pp bleeding goes.
I am 3 weeks pp, and have gone on a couple of easy runs and have done some basic yoga, I did have a lot of stitches, but they have healed well and I feel really great. Listen to your body and stop when you don't feel right. If you had a csection though I would probably wait a bit.
I started running around 3 weeks, but I had completely stopped bleeding, I kept it slow and short (2 miles). I didn't do anything else - especially ab work, until my 6 week appointment. Your stomach muscles went through a lot over the past 9 months and are very prone to injury if you don't wait till they fully heal. You don't want separated abs.
