Accidental Team Green Nursery

Mobile: Accidental Team Green Nursery

So far, DD's nursery is looking a little "team green". However, since we know she's a girl, I'd like her room to be a bit more feminine. I'm not big on pink, but I don't mind girly stuff.

Major construction, painting, etc. are out. I'm thinking of adding some "pretty" decor and home accessories, but I don't know what might work.

Pics of the nursery "in progress" are below.

Re: Accidental Team Green Nursery

  • Ikea sells this ridiculously sparkly "crystal" chandelier that I'm obsessed with.  I've been trying to justify putting it into a boy's room but just can't.  Maybe it'll work in yours!

  • I don't think it's too gender neutral! Very pretty in fact! Maybe you could add some more feminine throw pillows to the couch and add her name in a really girly script above her crib?

  • Maybe buy some real frilly girly throw pillows to add to the couch?

We are on the same page!
  • I love it as is honestly but I agree with pp's about maybe some frilly pillows, name over the crib or crystal lighting. It's really adorable.
  • If you don't have overhead lighting and don't want to invest the money for a chandelier just for decoration, there are a few shops on Etsy that actually sell cardboard chandelier cut-outs. Sounds weird, I know, but with a little spray paint, they would be really cute:

  • I really like it!  You could definitely go with the chandelier, some pink picture frames on the wall maybe?  My sister did a super cute green/pink theme with my niece.

This... also, I was in Pottery Barn Kids yesterday and they had a table lamp where the shade was covered in little rosettes... it was so beautiful it made me ache for a little girl.  The lamp was pricey, about $100, but I felt like a crafty person could easily recreate it with an affordable lamp and some flowers from a craft store.

  • It will be filled with pink girl toys in the next year. Maybe hang a dress on the wall or frame one in a shadow box.
  • I agree with PP about some pretty throw pillows for the couch. And either put some on the wall above the crib or do a statement piece that can double as a mobile hanging from the ceiling. It looks like the ceiling is vaulted right there and if you do a large chandelier style mobile it would look fantastic. If you go that route, I wouldn't put anything on the wall though.  If you aren't crafty, there are tons of people on etsy who sell such things. Maybe some like this in your colors.

    This. Great job!

  • Maybe some cute 3d butterflies or something similar on the walls a la https://www.etsy.com/listing/153589666/40-3d-butterfly-wall-art-circle-burst?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=3d+butterfly+wall+art&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_ref=auto4&ga_search_type=all

I also like the idea of hanging a cute outfit or two (we'll be doing this for our boy's room). And all the other suggestions were great too.

  • I agree with everyone else. First of all the room looks fantastic! And while I think it looks feminine already if you really want to make sure people know its a girl's room then I love the idea of a chandelier, her name above the crib, etc.

  • I LOVE this room! Wow! You did so good, I don't think it's too neutral at all!! Maybe you could find some ruffled curtains that you could hang over her window? I love the chandileer idea too. And yes, I know I spelled that wrong but I don't know how it's spelled lol..

We bought the rug at Crate & Barrel, last year. It was in our home office, but I actually think it works much better as a kid's room rug.

The ceiling is vaulted. And, I have a stupid question. How difficult is it to hang a chandelier? Anyone done this for their LO's room?

I think it looks great! other than some more feminine throw pillows, which have already been suggested, i think one of those sweet cherry blossom wall decals would look really sweet...and if you're not huge on pink, purple and green go great together too!

  • I love the room the way it is. I'm not a huge fan of pink myself. But I agree with just putting some girly pillows on the couch.
