Movie Theater?

Would you bring your LO to the movies? Right now most of your babes' are mobile, so the answer is probably no, but what about a month or two ago before they were mobile?

Colby isn't crawling/ walking yet, and DH and I want to bring Keagan to see the new Despicable Me movie.  Keagan has been to the movies before and I'm not concerned with him, I know he will enjoy it.  We don't really have anyone to watch Colby, so I was tossing around the idea of bringing him.  If he gets cranky I can nurse him for a little while, and worst case scenario DH or I could step outside the theater with him for a while.

Awful idea?

Do it. You are taking Keagan to the movie and Colby is just tagging along. Just be prepared to hang out in the hall if he can't handle it.

  • I wouldn't worry about it too much since it is a kids movie and there will likely be more than one kid screeching.
  • No, I wouldn't.  Even to a kids' movie.  There's no way DD would stay quiet during the movie, and I would spend most of the time in the lobby (and why pay for a ticket then?).  But then again, I would be out the door with her at the first squeak, even a happy one, because I wouldn't want to disrupt anyone else's experience.  I guess, to me, it's not just cranky sounds or crying that can be disruptive--it's the random baby shrieks and coos and giggles, too.

It seems like a waste of money and stressful to me--I'd rather make this a daddy-son or mommy-son date and have the other parent stay home with the baby.

  • We go to a free movie every week. So far we haven't made it longer than 10 minutes into the movie. All the movies are during Sean's nap time, but he won't nap while he's there. I end up sitting outside the theater for most of the movie. Luckily we have friends we go with, so Ethan can stay and watch the movie. If we had to pay or the friends weren't along, there's no way we would go.

  • I would do it.  But at the $6 Sunday matinee and at the theater in the mall so I could have some thing to do with the baby while H stayed in the theater with K.

Nope. That doesn't sound fun for anyone.
Why do all of you need to go?
    Have a mom/son or dad/son date.

  • I probably wouldn't bc I don't think DD would have wanted to sit that long even before she was mobile. Although, I suppose you could hope he'll fall asleep. If you don't mind potentially wasting the ticket price, go for it.

  • We took him this afternoon. Tuesdays are discount days so we only paid $14 for tickets. He nursed through the first half, then munched some cheerios the second half. There were only 2 other couples in the theatre and the movie was so loud you couldn't hear him the few times he fussed. Keagan had a great time!
