Late Term and Child Loss

Phantom kicks (ticker warning)

I know I'm being a PW lately, but I have lots of questions.

In the hours and days after I delivered my daughter stillborn, I swear I could still feel what felt just like her kicking.  Other women confirmed that they felt the same thing after delivering (regardless of the outcome).  So I am not sure if it was a phantom sensation or just uterine spasms as it was shrinking back down.

Well, three months later I swear I can still feel them.  Maybe they are just regular old uterine/pelvic area spasms that I've always had and never noticed before.

I was wondering if anyone felt anything like this.

  • ***siggy warning***

I felt them for many months after we lost Elsie. I would wake up to them, thinking it had all been a bad dream. But no, just phantom movement.

  • I am sorry I have not had any. I felt so empty after we lost her. The moment we found out I realized I couldn't feel her any more and it just crushed me.

  • My  son was born sleeping feb 14 2012. And still till this day i feel the kicks. I don't understand why that happens. Or like you said maybe those feelings were always there and never noticed them until this happened to us.

This is exactly the way it is for me, over a year later. I feel something out of nowhere and think that's what kicks felt like! It sucks.

  • Yep, been there.  : (.  I'm sorry, hun.  I remember feeling the same thing after losing Ava.  I am almost 3 months out now and I no longer feel them, but I find myself forgetting sometimes that she's gone.  I sometimes think we're still awaiting her arrival.  Lots of hugs!

  • My Lily was a stillbirth on June 19. I still feel almost every day. Sometimes at night I feel her even more wake up thinking, "wow, she's really active tonight," then I remember that she's not there. I feel for you. Hugs sweetie.
