Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Schedule

What does your 6, 7, or 8 months old schedule look like?? Waking times? Napping times? Feeding times? (What do they eat?) bedtimes? Very curious to see the different types of schedules and looking for new ideas for activities and foods!! Thanks all!

DS was only napping for 30 minutes at a time around 4 months.  We did sleep training and nap training then.  Over the course of a month, his naps extended from 30 mins to 45 minutes to over an hour.

However, his naps duration was unpredictable (sometimes 45 m, sometimes 2+ hrs) until he turned 6.5 months.  He was doing 3 naps a day and each nap was around 1hr15 mins.  DS went to 2 naps about 3 weeks ago.  Since then, his 2 naps were about 1hr45 minutes-2 hours long each.

DS was all over the place for a while, but lately since I am home for summer, we've settled into a nice schedule. Basically he wakes up, plays, eats, plays some more for about 2 hours, then takes a 2 hour nap. That's pretty much how our day goes right now. Awake 2 hours, sleep 2 hours. He normally goes to bed around 7:30-8. He normally doesn't eat at night anymore, but wakes when he loses the paci. Most of the time I can put it back in and he goes right back to sleep.

  • DS will be 7 months on Friday. I am a teacher and on summer vacation so I have been working on a schedule. For foods we do a mix of solids and purees because DS really likes the combinations of fruits/veggies in the pouches (Plum Organics, Happy Baby, etc) This is what a typical day looks like:

7:30-8 am: Wakes up, starts the day with a 5 oz. bottle of formula

*In between each time here we play (read stories, dance to music, sing, play in mirror, he LOVES water so we play in his little pool & play with wooden spoons and tupperware - his faves) he also has some independent playtime in the jumperoo, exersaucer, on the floor, etc.*

9:30: Breakfast (2 tablespoons of oatmeal & fruit - sometimes puree - he LOVES Plum Organics Pumpkin Banana! Other times, halved blueberries, banana, nectarine)

10: Small 3-4 oz Bottle, walk outside after

    10:30-usually noonish: Nap

1:00: Snack (I will usually give him some of what I am having for lunch - today it was some halved grapes and strips of chicken from my chicken salad)

    1:30: 6-7 oz bottle

    2:30-3:30: Second Nap

    5:00: 6-7 oz bottle

6:00: Dinner (Veggies & some of what we are having for dinner, sometimes a little oatmeal again if he seems hungry)

    6:30: sometimes a 20-30 min. cat nap

7:30: bedtime routine (bath, lotion, jammies, stories)

    8:00: 7-8 oz bottle

8:30-9: down for bed & he STTN

  • DS is 8 months. I SAH.

6:30-7 wake up, play in his crib/on the floor in his room while I put laundry in, vacuum, get myself ready for the day, etc. He usually drinks a 6 oz bottle within an hour of waking

plays downstairs in his playpen if I need to prep supper, other cleaning, etc. Then we read a few books, practice standing, etc.

9:00-9:30 breakfast for both of us. We do BLW.

On Mondays and Thursdays the morning is usually bottle, play, go get groceries, and go to story time so he doesn't eat breakfast but will eat a snack with me in the afternoon. We aim for at least two meal times with him.

10:00-11:00 first nap. drinks 6 oz bottle. Lasts about 2 hours.

12:00-1:00 walk to get the mail, play outside if it is nice, take puppies for a walk, go swimming, etc. If it is raining or too hot we play inside. Johnny Jump up, exersaucer, push and pull toys, activity cubes, etc.

2:00 bottle 6 oz. read more books, sometimes finger paint, maybe watch a cartoon or two

3:30-4:00 2nd nap usually lasts an hour to 1.5 hours. wake up to more outside play if it's nice otherwise hangs out while I make supper

6:00- daddy comes home and the rough playing starts! rolling on the floor and lots of giggles. I guess I don't play right Wink

6:15- dinner. sometimes he eats 4 oz or so before dinner if he is hungry

7:15-7:30 bedtime routine. bath, book, bottle, crib

    8:00-8:15- sleeping

We aren't sleeping through the night yet. Usually only 2 wakes ups.

  • DD is 6.5 months old [her schedule definitely has a bit of variety, today she woke up later than usual and now has been napping for almost 1.5 hours which is unusual this early in the morning but our days sort of look like this...]

630 awake, I nurse her and usually we lay in bed just hanging out for about 20 minutes. The past 2 days though she woke up and played in her crib alone for about 20 minutes which was nice so I didn't get her until closer to 7.

915 solids, either an ounce of vegetable or fruit and sometimes I mix it with oatmeal

930 nap [anywhere from 30-60 minutes]

    1015 awake, I nurse her

    1230 nap [usually 45-90 minutes]

    130 awake, I nurse her

    345 nap [30-45 minutes]

    415 awake, I nurse her

    5 solids

    6 I nurse her again

    620 bath

630 baby massage with coconut oil

640 I read to her but only for a few minutes because my throat hurts too much when I read

    645 bed

    1 am awake to nurse

I try not to let her be awake for more than 3 hours at a time. We go to the park, swim, play with toys. I try to give her at least an hour a day of alone time where she entertains herself [usually 30 minutes twice a day.] DD really just loves being outside though, we can just go stand outside doing nothing else and she's a happy girl.

She's had avocado, banana, pear, sweet potato, carrot, apple and oatmeal and I've mixed in cinnamon sometimes.
