My 19 month old is uttering something that sounds like "one, two three" as he stacks his blocks, but it's not consistent. Honestly, at 16 mos he had maybe 6 words total under his belt before his word explosion the following month.
Mine could count to 20 while doing backward hand springs at that age.
LOL, well this post was good for a morning giggle. Is OP even a real person? I clicked on her avatar and it says something about the user not being recognized..?
Ds is no where near counting yet. I'm just trying to get him talking more.
But what's with the attitude from some pp on here? The OP doesn't always post ridiculous stuff as another pp commented. I thought this site is about asking questions. ....so what gives with all the judgement? Maybe her kid does count to 6? If so, fantastic for them! My neice who is six months older than my son started counting at 16 months plus knew 4 to 5 colors.

What's the point of this post? Your worried because your kid can't count? Or, more likely, you want to see how "advanced" he is?
Neither of my kids could count to 6 at 16 months. Dd can count to 3.
this lady posts ridiculous sh!t regularly.
Really???? First of all I haven't posted anything in weeks. As far as posting "ridiculous sh!t". This board and forum is supposed to be for parents looking to ask questions and socialize. Sorry that some of my questions are not up to par with your narrow mind. I have come in to contact with you in previous posts and you're nothing but a know it all bully. I've seen both good and bad responses from you, but most of the time I cringe when I see your name pop up because you can be very judgmental.
First time moms don't always know what is considered standard in child development. I am not so fortunate to have lots of kids around to compare my daughter to. Yes she did start counting to 6 and she's 16 months. Great for her, but the point of the post was not to rub that into another mothers face or gloat that she is so "advanced" as one post put it. It was to just find out where other kids were at. For all I know she is behind.
So take a chill pill all of you bullies and remember that this is supposed to be a positive forum. Not one full of criticism. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Most of the negative posters are probably ones that can use words behind electronics to judge but have no real social skills in the real world.

There's no like button but I agree. I always find your posts helpful being a FTM too.

Normally when people ask is your kid doing x,y,z it's because they're concerned their child might be missing a milestone. If you want to brag about something your kid is doing, just put AW in your post title and people won't care. We all brag about our kids. But posting something like this with "Is this normal?" just comes across as a thinly veiled attempt at asking for comparisons when really you just want to confirm your kid is way ahead of everyone else. It's obnoxious.
And for real, people need to understand what the word "bully" actually means. I feel like this is the new catch all word for "I don't agree with what you said and/or how you said it".
Thank you. You are nicer than I. This is ridiculous.
I never used the word bully, I said judgemental. And I agree. There is definitely a certain level of ridiculous with how bent you seem to be with the Op

Re: Counting at 16 mos
My 2 year old can't even do that.
I get 1, 2, 7, 1, 2 and that is all.
My guess is the latter also.
At 15. 5 months DS isn't even close to counting. He only knows about 15 words or so.

I think it was around that age DS was counting a little without assistance. Is there an actual question or you are just comparing your kid to others?

Just to be clear, when did I ever call you a hor? The only time we ever got into a heated debate was the car seat issue last year.
