OMG Hot!!

I don't know about you ladies but hot weather equals ?ber cranky baby at my house! In fact, since DH is on vacation it equals two cranky babies lol.

its been 35 it 37 degrees (98 F) since 9am this morning! I love summer but this is too much even for me! I don't remember it being this hot when I was a kid. And the worst part is its supposed to be like this for the rest of the week!

DH actually broke down and went and bought a cheap air conditioner today because we just couldn't take it anymore.  That at least makes the living room livable but the rest of the house is still really hot.

what do you ladies do when it's this hot to keep the kiddos cool and content?

Re: OMG Hot!!

  • Oh man. Exact same weather here. It's killer. Baby girl is spending all of her time out of daycare in just a diaper. We've also been sleeping in the basement and spent most of the weekend between the wading pool and splash pad downtown.

  • We have central air and I hardly ever use it but it was hot today so it ran. We play in the water too to stay cool.

Before ac I'd take my oldest to the air conditioned mall and walk around or Barnes and Noble to play with the train table when it was so hot, that are go to a park with a lake.

  • I live in NJ and it's been in the very high 90s for a few weeks now and humid. We're fortunate to have central air in our house and a pool, but we have a neigbor who has a pool that he doesnt take care of and it collects water and breeds mosquitos so we avoid out backyard as much as possible...which is really aggravating because one of the big selling points for us on this house was the huge backyard.

DS is just like his dad in that he does NOT deal well with heat! I can tolerate it but obviously would rather be at a comfortable temperature.

  • I miss having central air. I do not handle heat well. We have a huge window a/c in the dining room that keeps the downstairs cool enough and small window units for our room and DDs room. They are newer, so reasonably energy efficient, but I still dread the next electric bill after this heat wave.

  • I filled our kiddie pool yesterday but we have absolutely no shade at all in our backyard. Today I am hoping to take her to the beach but its supposed to be 32 C by 10am! I'm so happy DH went and got the air conditioner yesterday!

we may have to go walk the mall just to get out of the house for a bit tho.

  • We don't have central air but we do have a portable AC which only cools down the living room and leaves the rest of the house miserable. Luckily our heat wave ended last week and we are in the 70/80's (F) this week....perfect!

Kiddie pools, water tables, no clothes, etc. are what we did. Cool malls and early and late afternoon walks also helped for some fresh air.

    Good luck.
