I started ebf this week and my dd is doing well, but not pooping. She has had many wet diapers, but poops only every other day or two days. She passes gas a lot, but does not poop.
I'd call the pedi during normal business hours to check. She's still pooping and it's not unheard of for them to be 1-2 days apart, so I wouldn't be alarmed but I'd want to check.
Per my pedi, this is normal. Sometimes DS poops daily and sometimes he will go a few days without one poopy diaper. As long as you are getting plenty of wet diapers you are fine. If you weren't getting any poopy OR wet diapers, I would probably start to worry.
#1 only pooped about every 10 - 15 days. Yes, you read that correct. Pedi didn't really like us going past 10 days and would have us give DD a supository. However, often she still would not poop. She was EBF until 6 months when we started solids. It wasn't until then that she pooped more frequently.
#2 goes about every 5 days, but on that day he will have a couple of poops.
Here's the deal on this....BM produces very little to no solid waste. A BF baby will typically be at one extreme or the other - meaning they will poop with every feeding or very infrequently. The key is to be aware of how baby is acting - do they seem in discomfort (as if they are constipated?) and are they eating and having enough wet diapers. If so, then do NOT let your pedi stress you out about this.
