I posted before about having a hard time with DD at school and taking naps. Someone mentioned giving up naps and my cousin thinks so too. My DD is 2yrs 7 months. She is a MESS when she doesn't take a nap but it is getting HARDER AND HARDER to get her down now. My cousin says it is a "process" of getting them used to no nap and once they get the hang of it, they aren't as testy. She sleeps 10-11 hours at night and 1.5 hour naps when she takes them. Has anyone experienced this while weening kids off their nap? Thanks!

Re: When to stop giving naps?
What time are naps? What are they doing before nap time in order to get tired.
LO is 3 and still naps and I don't have any plans on giving up naps anytime soon. With that said, I make sure he something very active do in the morning before lunch to tire him out. Like the park or what not.
Most days he naps- some days he doesn't. But the rule is he always has rest time in his room. So if he isn't going to sleep he still has to lay in his bed and rest until I come and get him.
Remember that many kindergartens have rest time- so it isn't uncommon for kids up to the age of 5 to still nap.

My mom said my sisters and I all napped until 5. This was back in the day of morning kindergarten. We'd come home from school and still nap. I can't imagine my son only getting 10-11 hours of sleep.
My son is almost three, he sleeps 11-12 hours at night and 2-4 hour for a nap.
