When to make last day- WWYD?

With all of my other children I've worked up to the day I delivered (I've also had scheduled inductions). This time is similar but a little different... My other inductions were all at 37-38 weeks (really no way baby was coming earlier), this one will be at 39 (unless baby decides to come on his/her own). This would make my induction date next Thursday.

Would it just be easier to make my last day the Friday before, making sure everything is wrapped up and just take a loss on the Mon, Tues, Wed, (I will still get paid, just using PTO). Or would you just work until Wednesday and start leave Thursday to max time with the baby?

On one hand I'm in a lot of pain, on the other I feel three days, is still three days with my baby!

I was induced at 41 weeks and only took off the day before, to get a pedi, make sure everything was ready and to nap!! Could you do that or maybe just work half days that week?

ETA: My whole thing was if I sat home, I'd just be sitting there and waiting for days. So I figured I would at least get some work in and save time for when the baby was here.

I was due on a Wed. When I passed that date, my doctor said to make that Friday my last day. I did and I ended up having DS the following Tues (scheduled for an induction on Wed). I wanted as much time afterwards as possible, but at the same time, I enjoyed having a few days where I KNEW I was done and just waiting!

I agree w/you on the extra days w/baby. But I do like the half days idea, if that's an option for you. Or Monday full, Tuesday half and be done. I'd probably do something like that. Kudos to you for making it to this point!

What would you do with those 3 days? If you don't have the energy or patience to do much at home or with the kids anyway, then you might as well work. I'd probably take off one day early and get a pedicure and see a movie by myself.

Exactly this. I'd take the 3 days to get organized or take care of any last minute projects you haven't had a chance to do. Also if at the end of your leave you feel those 3 days really make a difference maybe you can just ask for 3 extra days then as well.

I would work up to the induction date to save the time and because for me time passes faster when I'm busy..

b.What do you plan to do M-W? Would you be relaxing or watching the kids? This would be a deciding factor

iii. I would work M & T and take off W. In my household, one day is tops for relaxation before it is interrupted with other responsibilities ie: kids, cleaning,etc... I vote more time with baby and recovery.

Honestly, I would just work up until the induction date. If the baby comes earlier, then so be it. But I would personally want to have 3 extra days with the baby than 3 days wasted waiting for the baby to come. But that's just me.

I worked right up until I was induced at 41 weeks and I am happy that I did. I would have been sitting at home waiting for a whole week before she was born.

M-W I could basically do what i wanted. I would still have childcare (or DH would be home because he works nights) so if I felt up to it I could play with the kids, or I could just hang out in the tub all day.

The the two reasons I'm considering ending early is that 1) I don't want to end up going earlier than my "last day" because I'd feel like I've left things undone. I don't have a job that I can be finished up with everything at the end of each day just in case I don't come back the next day. 2) I'm in a lot of pain this pregnancy. I have back/spine problems as is, but 3 weeks ago I fell down the stairs and either bruised/cracked/dislocated my tailbone (but can't do x rays to find out, not that it matters anyway because no matter what all you can do it rest and ice it).

I've always worked up to the bitter end so even considering ending early just seems weird to me, I guess also having my last day be the 19th instead of the 24th seems soo much earlier, even though two of the days are weekend days.

ouch! You hurt your tailbone! Changing vote to a long wknd being enjoyed relaxing in a tub. Treat this pg different and enjoy a few extra days before the baby arrives.
