Natural Birth

s/o belly binding

With my daughter, I remember one of the worst parts of recovery was that my organs felt link they were going to fall out and it was very hard to sit up on my own for a while. Will a belly binder help with this?

Re: s/o belly binding

  • Definitely! I loved my belly binder after DD was born! It helped that organ falling feeling, gave me great posture /core support while breastfeeding and helped speed up the shrinking process. I think it also helped with PP bleeding by keeping constant (light) pressure on you ute. It was like being hugged constantly and it was a reassuring feeling! You do need to wear it as much as possible for the best results and ones that cover from boobs to down below your hips are best.

  • Yes, it will.  That was one of the several benefits for me, I felt more "together" as I moved around those first few weeks.
  • Is there one anyone recommends?
  • I'm a FTM so I haven't tried one yet, but I've heard the one that La Leche League sells is good because it's 12" long, so it provides a lot of coverage. You can get it off Amazon for only $25. I haven't purchased mine yet, but I'm leaning towards getting that one, and then once I get too small for that, I'll probably get some shapewear girdle similar to a squeem from JC penny's or Sears.

I was looking at the squeem but what's the LA leche one called?

I have the squeem and love it! I am 2 weeks post partum and I started wearing the bella band first for about a week then the squeem. It really sucks everything in. The boning can be painful when you are sitting but if you are standing or  laying down, it is fine. I only wear it a few hours a day and my stomach has already gown down to almost normal.
