Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Question about sleep regression

My little man who gave me 2 solid months of 11 hrs of sleep a night is regressing majorly over the last 3 weeks. Just wondering if you have dealt with this how you handle the night wake ups. He's not hungry so I don't feed him. I try to rub his back and give him his paci which works half the time . Do you let them CIO? If so how long before they learned to self sooth. DS is just over 5mos

    Lurker here but in my opinion, 5 months is too early to have him CIO. nbsp;Sleep regression SUCKS majorly but it's just something that they go through. nbsp;And it happens more than once so the best advice I can give you is just to let it pass by comforting him, rocking, paci, etc. nbsp;Also, at just 5 months, many babies still do need a middle of the night feeding. nbsp;And if it's a growth spurt, he may need some extra nourishment. nbsp;You might want to think about feeding him when he wakes.nbsp;

    I tried
    On 2 occasions and he fell asleep without even taking an ounce haha. Ill try again tonight maybe. I agree with CIO but didn't know if I was being too soft !

    I personally do not agree that 5 months is to early for cry it out. I was having major trouble with my LO not sleeping. So I started CIO and she now not only sleeps better at night but she actually takes better naps. On the other hand I do not let her CIO in the middle of the night because she is always hungry when she wakes.. (She is EBF)

    I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • If he falls asleep after eating an ounce, I would just feed him. It's not likely to create a bad habit at this age, and you both get to go back to sleep fast!

    I agree that 5 months is not too young either. I believe it's not recommended before 4 months, but I'm sure there are other studies/people that say that it's no younger than 6 months.

    My LO went through the 4 month wakeful (I think) last week. We had 8 loooong nights of multiple wake ups - a few nights as many as 6 until he finally came into bed with us and I nursed and slept so I have no idea how much he was awake. Two nights ago, he went back to "normal": which for him is going down at 8, waking at 3 or 4 for a feeding then going back down til almost 7
