  I don't think it makes much difference.  We started out with a little potty.  It was a waste.  We got a potty insert seat to go on the regular toilet, and that's when he started doing so well.  He already had a stool that he uses for washing his hands, so he could have used that, but he was big enough to get on without it.

  The froggy potty goes wherever we go around the house - DD can self service that way.

  The Bjorn seat is comfy and we take it on the go in a wet bag so DD can use public restrooms. Works well.

  Not sure why it doesn't have great reviews - we haven't had any problems.  DS now uses the ring on the big toilet and the step to get up there.

  We got the Boon Potty Bench. 

  It's a potty seat with a drawer that comes out instead of a bowl - we chose that after seeing LO pull the bowl out of the model potties in the store. 

  The lid folds down so it can be used as a step.

  It has two compartments on the sides to hold TP, books, toys, etc. I like this for the purpose of containment and entertainment. We have yet to trust LO with a roll of TP in there, but it's nice to have the option.

  And I can't stand the color lime green with a fiery passion, so we ordered online to get it in blue.
