Woke up this morning and felt a small gush when I stood up. My underwear were wet. I know it wasn't pee bc I've been having discharge since my last exam Thursday. Went to pee, peed, but fluid still was coming out and I really couldn't tell if I was still peeing or not! I held a tissue paper up to my urethra and tried to squeeze and got some fluid but not on my tp so now I'm that girl that has no idea if my water is leaking or if I'm peeing...

Guess ill lay down for a bit and see.

Last night was a particularly rough night with a lot of pain and this morning I'm cramping like a period. Gah!

UPDATE: litmus was negative. Nurse says its increased discharge. Don't understand how discharge can shoot out like piss but okay. Getting an ultrasound to check levels and then going home. I feel stupid.

Lay down and then see if when you stand if you get a gush. When my water broke, I kept getting gushes of water for a couple hours. Good luck!

Same thing happened to me a couple days ago but it turns out I was just peeing. I was almost conviced it was my water breaking though cause I kept getting small gushes and it didn't even smell like pee. Scares me cause I'm GBS positive and I'm supposed to go in as soon as my water breaks. Hope it was for you!

Yep, it's your water. If you sit on the toilet and lean over and fluid comes out, definitely water. I'd get a pad but, that likely will not keep it from running down your leg, so, put on a pair of old pants, and sit on a folded up towel, preferably a big absorbant one.

Sounds like when my water broke. Fwiw, there never was a big gush. Like pp said, lay down and if when you stand up, you leak, it's your water. Call your doctor and good luck!

When my water broke with my first it was small gushes. I actually went and put a towel down in the tub and sat on it (no bathwater in the tub) and found that when I swayed side to side, and forward to back and small gushes would come out almost each time (I think b/c baby's head was acting as a stopper, so when I moved her just a little off the cervix, the waters were able to escape). I saw little white specs in the water (I had dark towels under me). I called L&D and they told me that was vermix (coating on baby) and that was good as long as water was otherwise clear (which is was). They told me to come on in. Frankly, I could have almost waited till my scheduled induction the following morning b/c I didn't start contracting on my own for hours (4-6?) after my water broke.

This may be a weird test to do but after I pee I stick my finger in the opening of my vag and I squeeze. Fluid keeps coming out and it doesn't smell like pee or anything for that matter. Going into triage to check... Ugh. 3rd time in triage....

What??? This happened to me this morning??? I was done peeing then leaned forward and squirted out a considerable amount? I thought it was just extra pee?? Weird, my water never broke first time around... I'm due August 1st so now I'm wondering...

Don feel bad. This happened to me as well and I was told it was discharge. I'm still convinced it was a high leak...because when my water did break down low it was the same thing. There is no way to know for sure without it getting tested and still after the test you may still not be certain.

My dr told me this was pee. She said the bladder is oddly shaped right now, and there is usually a little urine left unless you lean forward or move around before getting off the toilet. I now lean forward pretty much every time and get a little more pee out.

Thanks everyone. Biophysical was all good and fluid levels were at 14. She thinks the increase in discharge is just cuz I'm dilating more. Still at 3cm but loose. I'm trying to perk up and think of it as I did what I needed to in order to make sure baby girl is alright!

Don't if it doesn't continue or get worse then that's not what it is. I had that gush then water was running down my legs constantly there was no mistaking it.
