britax b-safe - seated shoulder height

I just realized that this measurement is something to consider as to when your baby outgrows its carseat.  My question is how to measure.  Lying down from bum to shoulder DS is almost 11inches already (the limit), but when sitting, since his spine is rounded and compacted he's significantly shorter bum through shoulder.  How do i measure to know if he's outgrown it?  He is VERY far off from out growing the other specs (<5 months,13 lbs and 25 inches tall)

Re: britax b-safe - seated shoulder height

  • It's outgrown when either the stated height limit is met, or weightn or when the top of the head is one inch from the top of the shell of the car seat. The harness straps must be at or below for rf, never above. It doesnt sound like this seat is outgrown yet. The torso height you measure seated floor to shoulder. It's more of a concern ff when the straps must be at or above shoulder level. You're a few years off ff yet, at least two or three.

That!  You really only need to be concerned with their total height.  Because rear facing seats have to have the harness straps at or below... you are fine to use them for a long time as long as the child fits height wise.
