DD got them in December. On came out already and was sitting in her ear canal. She is getting it replaced in a few weeks. The surgery is super fast and very easy recovery. We use her time under general anesthesia to do other testing and her docs are great about coordinating.

what was the recovery like? is there any? does it hurt when the tube is coming out? i've read that they are temporary... is it normal for them to fall out??
Totally normal for them to fall out. As the ear grows the tube will come out naturally. My DD is getting tubes again because after her tube came out she still had fluid in her ear. We are checking in a few weeks, and then proceeding with the surgery - most likely. It is horrible, but I feel like I am surgery happy with her. She has a lot of issues and we leverage surgery to get a lot of medical testing/bloodwork done. Her last surgery was 50 minutes long because they took 45 minutes getting 12 vials of blood to do some endo testing.
DD was in recover for an hour (max) we gave her some tylenol and she slept on the care ride home. Once home she was back to normal by the afternoon. Easy peasy. We even stopped at Five Guys for lunch on the way home.
DD got them right before her 1st birthday. It was super quick. I think it was 10 minutes from the time they wheeled her away to the time the dr came out and said everything was fine. Recovery? DD was a little bear coming out of the anesthesia. She was flailing and crying. We stayed in recovery for about 30 min and then the nurses said we could go. She was fine as soon as we got in the car. One tube has since come out and the other one still looks great. She hasn't had any EIs since. GL!
