I KNEW IT!!!! We were also ecstatic about finding out ours were ID too! I don't know why, it's just nice to know. I've been waiting for your post. I'm so glad you tested them! Cool!! We should start a DI/DI ID club, haha!

Totally! I kinda want to go find all the random strangers that I lied to and tell them "I'm sorry...they're actually identical!"

Me too! I was sort of embarassed because strangers would look at me weird when I told them they were frats. No wonder!

That is so cool! I am curious to see if my fraternal girls will look similar enough and have the same blood type to warrant further testing. I love it either way, but that would be exciting:) Do you have to wait until they are a certain age to do DNA testing if you think they may be identical?

Random question about all of this. Do they run blood work after you have them to see if the blood types match? I know they won't do DNA tests but will need to get blood for the PKU correct?

They actually didn't test their blood type in the hospital after they were born because it wasn't "medically necessary". We had their DNA test done by proactive genetics for 110. And it was by cheek swab. Something about cheek swabs being more accurate than blood because they could still carry some of my antibodies and it could alter the test. Whereas with a cheek swab, it is JUST their specific DNA. Something like that...you'd have to read their website for their explanation.
I was 110 percent sure that my girls were fraternal. They looked different and had two sacs and two placentas.
I guess mothers don't always know best!

The only reason I ask about blood types is if they are different wouldnt that be an indicator that they arent IDs?
Looking at your siggy pic, not only are your girls beautiful but look just alike (obviously!). In a way I hope my boys are IDs but my older two look so much alike that I am sure people are going to think that they are regardless.
I personally want to get the test done for medical reasons. I have a lot of medical issues and from what I understand if one would need blood, bone marrow, etc we would have a sibling match (correct me if I am wrong on that).

Thank you! But yes, if they have different blood types then that would make them different which would mean they're not identical.
Even the test we had done indicated that it is not to be used for medical reasons. I would personally test them just for fun and if they are fraternal, wait until any problem may arise before needing the blood types. Regardless, a sibling is a lot of times a good candidate for a transplant but not always. Identical twins could have a genetic factor too which would lead an organ to fail and based on that...the other twin could potentially have organ failure too. So I read on google. I don't know how accurate that all is so its best to ask your doctor!

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I have been meaning to talk to my doc about all of this but you know how it goes, you think of all of these great questions on the weekend and forget them when you have your appointment. I made a reminder in my phone to go off 3 minutes before my appointment time. Hopefully, we can get to that one this week.

I would've had to have eaten my hat (or something) if they were frat. I was positive they were ID. It's nice to know for sure though, isn't it?
