So... how's your baby sleeping?

So... how's your baby sleeping?

We can ask because we're all in this together but strangers will face our wrath for asking. We promise not to get mad at people who have babies who STTN 12 hours plus one three hour nap, but we can be jealous.

Anyway for me. DD has STTN pretty often (may 75% of the time) for the past 6 weeks. She was waking up before 6 almost every day but the past week has been going down later (around 8) and waking up closer to 6:30. Before that she went to bed at 7:15. On nights she doesn't STTN she is a major PITA though and just wants to play, completely immune to CIO.

Her naps are more of a crapshoot. Sometimes she STILL takes three 45 minute naps. Daycare has her to two 60 or 90 minute naps most days but I can't always replicate those results on the weekends.

Re: So... how's your baby sleeping?

  • We were up every hour or so or what seemed like ever. But he seems to be STTN from 7 to 5 or 6 if I am lucky. Occasionally waking b/c he were through his clothes. All of a sudden last night and today he screams when going down to sleep for the night or naps. I usually rock him o sleep but now he doesn't like that. Not sure what's going on now.

  • E typically sleeps from 7:30 to 5. He nurses and goes back to sleep until 7 or 7:30. He usually does 2 to 3 hours of naps, just 2 naps a day. It's not ideal, but not bad either.

Awful. He is up all the time. He nurses/ bm bottles poorly all day long and them eats like a crazy man all night. I know I have to fix it but work is crazy and I don't have time. On the other hand he naps great.

  • DD takes 2 naps a day, goes to bed at 7 and is up for the day around 6:30.

...though I should include she still wakes up every 3 hours to nurse. Sleep

  • Well, we are re-Ferberizing after a move and popping out 3 teeth in close succession.  We started Friday and he is still waking up every 2-3hours, but his crying is usually done after 1 check at 5min and we have been able to push back a night feeding until 4am.  Bedtime is 7pm and he wakes up for good in the AM at around 6:30am-7:30am.

Naps are down to 2 - anywhere from 30-90minutes.  At daycare his naps are all over the place - sometimes one 2.5hour nap early (and he comes home cranky) and other times 2-3 30-60min naps.

We are not even close to STTN. DS has two 1.5 hour naps a day, he goes to bed in between 7pm and 8pm. DS usually is awake to nurse at 12am, 3am and 6am... Sometime we are awake for the day at 6am and other days I'm lucky and get to sleep in till 7am. Hubby and I haven't done any sleep training, we tried once. R cried so hard in his crib that we couldn't stop him from crying... we felt so bad. Right now it's just easier for me to nurse him at night, besides night time cuddles are the best!
Also, I'm scared that if I don't have our night time feedings I wouldn't produce enough milk during the day, my supply really tanked with my first PP two weeks ago.

  • We had been doing SO WELL the last two weeks...2-3 awesome naps a day, and he was STTN (7pm to 6am!) every few days, with 1 wake up around 3am the other days and then waking at 630.

Since Thursday though, something's been going on. Naps have been shiittty, he's waking up more at night, and having a tougher time going to sleep. Anyone else facing this? Is this another regression (if so just kill me now)?

  • Yeah he hasn't STTN in months and it's a fight to get him to nap.
I don't sweat the naps much anymore, he's been taking a longer one in the afternoon more

He goes down 77:30 and is up at 11, 2, 4 like clockwork. I pull him into bed and nurse usually at the 2 am one. I'm going to try and let him CIO at the 2 am one now but he sleeps in our room we have a loft style apartment that's 2 big rooms so that's horrible for me. I should add he wakes up and immediately goes back to sleep, it's not like he's up. I think he's hungry.

I haven't really sleep trained but whatever. He seems to be fine.

    image
  • i also  have not sleep trained... he usually falls asleep  between 730p and 830p since summer started and  wakes anytime between 630a and 9a depends.

Naps are a quick 30-45 min in the morning and then a longer 2-3 hour one most days. He is teething with 4 coming in on the top at once- somebody pass the. Wine!!!

Separation anxiety is Killing me big time!!!

  • He goes to bed around 7:30pm.  Up around 10:30 and eats about 5oz.  Nurses around 2am.  Up for good at 6:30am.  He takes 2 - 40 minute naps.

I'm so sick of it.  I will be doing something about it this weekend.  I'm still nursing and would really like to TTC - so we hope to cut the night nursings out...in hopes of getting PPAF.

I guess I didn't realize this was awful but this is us too. What is the"fix" for basically snacking bottles all day and nursing every few hours at night?

I don't know the fix. But I'm going to come up with a plan in the next 4 weeks when work calms down. I feel it will involve a combination of Ferber and the sleep lady. I have the book good night sleep tight. I plan on readying it again and sticking to the plan.

Can you share your plan once you have it figured out?  We have a night time eater too.

My DD sleeps from usually like 8-8:30 pm- 6:30-7:30 am depending on the day. During the day she naps twice, the second one is getting a little more difficult but usually around 90 minutes-2 hours each nap. She's been a bear when she's awake the past couple days though, I think she's got more teeth coming. But I definitely think we lucked out with her, she's an amazing sleeper!

  • So super jealous of all your great nappers. He has two 15 to 20 minute naps a day and sleeps from 8pm to 3am has a bottle then sleeps until 6am then up for the day. It seems to work for him though. Hoping he will drop his middle of the night feeding soon.

  • Horrible!  He wakes up every two damn hours. Sometimes even less then two. I want to sleep train but can't bring myself to whike sharing a room.

It really depends on her mood that day. LOL Before vacation she was STTN pretty regularly. She would wake up once or twice a night for her paci, but no night feedings.

On vacation though, we bedshared again. So now that we are home she screams like I beat her if I put her in the crib. And she wakes up with the sun...which is 4am. So I am up and down a lot lately.

This thread depresses me...I'm going to go cry into my bowl of ice cream. My kid doesn't sleep. He goes to bed at 8, and wakes up anywhere from 6-8 times a night, and is often difficult to get back down when he does wake up. He's usually up for the day between 7 and 9. He used to be a good napper, but that has gone to heck the last couple weeks too. We're barely scraping by over here. He's got one more week to get it together and I'm busting out Ferber. I tried all the no cry techniques, and they worked for awhile, but recently stopped working completely. I'm tired.

Luckily, he's happy as can be during the day, and tons of fun to be around, so I can't stay mad at him for not sleeping. I just miss getting consecutive hours of sleep.

This was me.  Stella would go to bed around 8:30 and wake up 4-6 times until midnight.  Then I'd bring her in my room and she'd wake every 2 hours after that. She would also only go to sleep if I was holding or nursing her.  Since this has been going on since day 1, I am exhausted and finally decided to introduce Dr. Ferber to the family.  Stella is not a fan, but she is sleeping better.  She'll fall asleep after 10 min, but then she wakes 20 min after that and is ANGRY.  But once she falls asleep after that, she'll sleep for a few hours and that is a small miracle.  She still wakes every couple hours after, but she puts herself back to sleep within 5 min so we are making (slow) progress.  Tonight is night 6.

I also cut out the nighttime feedings cold turkey.  She was pissed but she wasn't actually eating - just using me as the Great Human Binky - so I don't feel guilty over that.
