Has anyone had a good experience with Kaiser and natural births. I was also wondering if they had a tub to labor and birth in. I had LO #1 there last time and hated it but can't afford a home birth this time. Any advice?
Both myself and my sister have had natural births at Kaiser. I found that some Kaiser Hospitals seem to be more open to natural births than others. Even though there is a Kaiser 2 minutes from my house, I decided to give birth at a Kaiser that was 20-30 minutes away from our home. So I guess my advice would be to possibly try another Kaiser facility, if it's not too far away. Other than that, just be prepared with a good birth plan. Also, I think the amenities and hospital procedures vary by location.
I don't think they had a tub at the Kaiser I gave birth at, though they did have a birthing stool. Also, they do have midwives that you can use, but they are only at the birthing center during the day on weekdays, so if you give birth after 5pm or on a weekend, then you'll have a dr. Overall, we were very happy with our birth experience...though I would have loved to have a home birth or midwife. Plus, we don't have to pay any additional fees at Kaiser...and every room is a private room (not many other hospitals in my area offer that without an additional cost).
