Right now I'm registered for both a bouncer and a baby swing. The swing can be either battery operated or has an A/C adapter. To me these products seem like they might be a bit redundant - but I'm a FTM so I'm not sure!
Anyone with experience prefer one over the other? Are they really both necessary to have? The swing should be pretty portable I think (that was one advantage I had heard about the bouncer - you can easily move it from room to room).
Thanks for the input!
Re: Bouncer vs. Swing
I felt the same way. We live in a two-bedroom apartment and it seemed stupid to get both, so we registered for Graco Sweetpeace Soothing Swing. It's a 2 in 1.... The seat can come off and is a bouncer. Also, though we didn't register for a Graco car seat, you could use the car seat in place of the bouncer seat on the swing....like if you come home and baby is asleep in the car seat and you want him or her to stay that way, you can just put it on the swing! I thought it was the best way to get both but to save on space.

This. It's not necessary, but it is nice to have many options.

This was the same for us. DD loved her bouncer, but I ended up selling our swing because she wanted nothing to do with it.
I also think you get more use out of a swing but I have heard of kids that hate the swing.
We're getting something called a "Mamaroo" to avoid exactly this type of thing. It's got several settings and doesn't have nearly the spacial requirements of a bulky swing in our home. It's a bit pricey but we're not going big on most other items.
